What's amazing is that this was filmed and the film survived. When this was filmed, Pink Floyd was unknown. They hadn't even made an album yet. And this studio looks like somebody's basement.

This is all fucking bullshit, Pink Floyd was one of the biggest bands of the psychedelic scene in London back in 1967, probably THE biggest at the time - they had been receiving accolades from various people, for example Jim Morrison called them his favourite band, and they also met with The Beatles at Abbey Road Studios whilst recording Piper there at the same time Sgt. Pepper and S.F Sorrow were also being recorded, they were far from ''unknown''.

Although their sensibilities were pretty different, I can't help but hear an affinity between Syd-era Pink Floyd and the Velvet Underground on songs like this, with their use of noise and repetition, and their respective interest in pushing rock and roll structures to the breaking point.

it is painful how low the views are...it is painful to see a band like this in their early days being treated with little respect compared to no talents...I prefer their very early days..it is almost like they threw away guitar work like this and instrumentation like this...they could also write artistic music.

WHY!!! DID THEY Put the lowest quality, worst take on the album, the 9:50 one on the Piper At The Gates of dawn is nowhere as near as good as this one. The London66/67 version smashes the album version and so does the Live In Stockholm, HECK all alternate versions sound way cooler, better quality and focused than the one on the album, It baffles me how they had 6 takes and they chose the 9:50 one to put on the album! this is amazing thanks for uploading it

Syd saw a documentary and the Pink Floyd awards ceremony on TV saw that they named him, and his sister witnessed that, his sister says that syd remembered everything but he did not have that euphoria or anything he knew about his past , the same thing happened to my cousin Lalo who woke up after 40 years of the LSCD AND WHEN HE WAKE UP ALREADY HIS MOM MY AUNT AND HIS FATHER ESTEVAN WERE NO LONGER ALIVE , a trip in the lscd can last year and years but when to wake up it's sad and heartbreaking.

floyd must have learned this from the beatles seeing as its often reported that floyd often visited the beatles in abbey road studios to see what they were doing as they were so influenced by them. shame the beatles couldnt produce stuff like this themselves, and usually produced such high quality such as yellow submarine and get back. seriously though interstellar overdrive and all its variously different versions have elements of psychedelia, prog rock, acid, rave, punk, goth and just about any other stuff that influenced many bands for decades after. floyd invented thier own genre, not many can say that.

As brilliant as this is it makes me sad that Syd Barrett was so talented and together here but in a few years he was unable to speak properly due to schizophrenia. Listen to his solo album The Madcap Laughs and you will here some great songs but a lot of them have lyrics that don't make sense and the guitar had to be played by someone else. I think they were played by Kevin Ayers of Soft Machine.
