David Gilmour vocals guitar, Rick Wright keyboard synthesizer, Nick Mason drums (the gray haired one sitting down), are the three original members of Pink Floyd on stage here. Each a very important part of the Pink Floyd sound. Roger Waters is the only one who had left this classic lineup of the band. They were in their upper 40s here; they're all in their upper '70s now. (Keyboardist Rick Wright died in 2008). David Gilmour last toured the US as a solo act in 2016, performing much of Pink Floyd material along with his solo stuff. You mentioned they were big in the '70s. Correction, they were big in the 80s, and 90s as well. This 1994 tour of stadiums all across America sold out multiple days at nearly every one in just a few hours. It became the highest grossing tour in rock in history to that date. I saw them at Soldier Field in Chicago that year. Extraordinary unforgettable. The video barely does it justice.

last concert of Pink Floyd , 14 sold out shows at Earl's Court .Watch this song and "comfortably numb' david Gilmour's " live at Pompeii.' Daves last concert plays solo and some Floyd.( no big P.F. light production ) Dave plays his modified "black strat" which sold for $3.9 million without his Jimi Hendrix guitar strap. This concert any song will blow your mind. Saw 5 times. any song from Pompeii . the only person to play twice inside the Amphtheater since 79 AD.

I saw David Gilmour perform on his solo tour in 2016 when it came to Chicago. He was 70 years old that year and still sounded amazing. (He was about 48 years old in 1994 during Pulse). In 2016, he performed Pink Floyd classics as well as music from his handful of solo albums. He only tours about once per decade, it seems. He also had a solo album out in 2006 and toured that. Roger Waters continues to perform solo shows, as well as the drummer, Nick Mason (his band is named after an early Pink Floyd album, 'Saucerful of Secrets' and focuses on very early Floyd music. Nick's band also features Guy Pratt, the young bass player from Pulse, who continues to play bass in David Gilmour's solo shows, as well). If you want to check out a more recent David Gilmour performance, I suggest 'Comfortably Numb', David Gilmour, Live in Pompeii, 2016.'

This was their final live concert performance. In the early days of the group (late 1960-early 1970s) the music was primarily created by Syd Barrett and Roger Waters. Syd had a life long battle with mental health that took him out of the group before their global success. Gilmour was brought in to back up Syd as the members tried to continue with Syd. Most of them were school mates in their teens. As the band hit global critical success with Dark Side of the Moon, Waters did most of the writing of the subsequent themes. I think all would agree he had a bout of meglomania when he elected to leave PF--thinking the band would stop. That did not happen. The remaining members continued and I actually think that Waters thought they would not succeed. Oops. Part of the other reason for the break up was largely the members became adults---marriage, children, competing obligations to touring, other interest. Sadly, Gilmour and Waters continue to snipe at one another as they are now in their late 70s, knocking on 80. The band was always technology lightyears ahead of other performing bands. They considered themselves musicians, not rock gods. The album cover art also were artistic statements, created by another childhood friend. Despite their work challenges over the years, they regarded each other as friends--as people. Gilmour always made sure some aspect of Syd's work was highlighted in PF albums or his solo work so their friend would have royalties to live his life in comfort. Wright died, and Gilmour has spoken often how it hurts him to play live without him. They all had side projects--either themselves or supporting other musical performers. Not particulalry rock and roll (from some of the excesses that are the lore), but they each seem to have a robust and successfully rounded musical career. I think for all of them, they regard their successes as highliy improbable, without the early influence of their friend Syd to serve as the scaffold of their success. Think about listening to the Pulse concert in full, along with the full muscial statement, DSOTM and The Wall.

Some of Pink Floyd’s music is from 1987 & 1994 albums. This concert had a couple from those. Roger left because he wanted to be the boss, had fired Rick Wright (keys), was kinda a jerk by then. David hired Rick back and with David Mason (drums) they went on with the Pink Floyd name (Roger sued them for that but lost - so that added more fuel to the feud).

@@lynnhoffman247 I know, we all did. But more details come out over the years. Roger was the leader of the band at the time, so it was probably left to him to give him the facts of life. David Gilmour was in full agreement with the decision to let him go.

Nick Mason and David Gilmour came up with music to back a video put out by a Ukrainian singer, Andriy Khlyvnyuk, of an old Ukrainian song called "Hey, Hey, Rise Up." The singer left a tour in the US to go home to fight against the Russian invasion, and went out in a square in Kyiv to record himself singing this song, then posted it on the web. Gilmour's daughter-in-law is Ukrainian, and brought it to his attention. They received permission from Khlyvnyuk to use the recording to raise money to support Ukraine. Khlyvnyuk agreed, while he was recovering in a hospital, from a shrapnel wound.

Perfectly discribed the difference between the "shredders" (although they're great musicians too in some way) and the way David is catching you by his kind of emotional soul-piercing guitarplaying that kicks you into another world and another level of experience. Why not react to the Live8 reunion concert 11 years after the pulse concert ? Roger Waters returns and they play 4 songs and blew every other artist away that day. Even Paul McCartney on after them was an anti climax. Apart from the reunion in 2005 , this tour was officially Pink Floyd's last as a group in 1994.

Just to help the "newbie" Novey to argue with the critics: 1) This is a reaction video! Reacting includes to say something and not only roll your eyes. 2) If someone wants to listen to a song only, without being "disturbed", go look for it yourself 3) It's common experience that if a reactor doesn't pause a song (to react) he could get a strike or even be cancelled by YT ...and it's another common experience that you should avoid to pause a Pink Floyd song and never ever a Gilmour-Solo 🤣

Dudes, why are you talking so much in the beginning of the song?! Gilmour is doing an epic intro and you two won't shut up! One of the first rules when listening to Pink Floyd is never, EVER pause or talk over a David Gilmour solo! I quit at 9:55 when you guys are cackling about two drummers. Lots of Rock bands had a drummer and a percussionist in those days! Everything posted below this point was done before the music started,..........., when you guys couldn't STFU I left! Why bothering reacting to one of the most prolific Rock Bands in history, if you're not going to LISTEN to them! I've been a Pink Floyd fan since the release of their epic "Dark Side of the Moon" album in 1973, I was 17 years old. I've seen them live twice, and that's no easy achievement considering how fast Pink Floyd tickets would sell out, all over the world. They Saying the height of their popularity was the 70s is really not very accurate. After their iconic "Dark Side of the Moon" album came out in 1973, Pink Floyd sold out virtually every concert in the 80s, 90s and 2000s. They are one of the most popular Rock bands of all time! Pink Floyd was formed in London in 1964, there were 4 of them,.. Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Rick Wright and Nick Mason. By the end of 1967 Syd Barrett had virtually destroyed his brain by ingesting massive amounts of LSD and other mind-altering drugs, and was forced to leave the band. Pink Floyd continued to pay Syd Barrett his full share of the Pink Floyd proceeds, until his death in 2006. His good friend, and friend of the band, David Gilmour took over full time for Barrett by the middle of 1968. From 1968 to 1985, Pink Floyd consisted of,... David Gilmour, (guitar, lead vocals,... Roger Waters, (bass, vocals),... Rick Wright, (keyboards, vocals), and, Nick Mason, (drums, percussion). They remained the 4 members of Pink Floyd until Roger Waters quit Pink Floyd in 1985. The remaining 3 members continued on as Pink Floyd until 2008 when Rick Wright died of cancer. Gilmour and Mason keep the Pink Floyd entity alive to this day, while both had and have, successful solo careers.
