"Wish You Were Here", "The Dark Side Of The Moon" & "The Wall" are among the best-selling albums of all time. They have a huge library of music. This song was written for former founding member Syd Barrett who was ousted due to drug use and deteriorating mental health. Syd apparently turned up during the recording session after years of not seeing him which was strange. This was their tribute to him.💕Pink Floyd crossed all genres of music and are an all time favorite of mine. Definitely lay back in the dark headphones on eyes closed take you on an epic journey music!

All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. I have had the extreme pleasure of meeting David Gilmour and shook both of his hands at the same time as he smiled. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life.

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION… I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

No one else comes close by miles to the sensory overload that is a Pink Floyd concert. You come out with such a sense of awe and appreciation for the absolute masters that they are in every aspect of their creativeness!! No one like them! No one will ever be like them ever!!

I love my Aussie music but Shine has to be one of the greatest pieces of music ever produced, A 12 minute masterclass right there folks.

Those 3 beauties sing great gig in the sky.. As a singer its a must.. On a side note David Gilmore has stated that later after looking back at the Pulse gig he realised just how bloody great he was playing at that time.. Probably the best he has ever played his guitar.. I would have to agree as i am sure many others would..

I'm a 4 tour veteran of P.F.,and there is no band that can musically,show,or mood that can even close to them .. PERIOD ! They were, and are a great getting a good buzz on to band.Cleveland Municipal Stadium twice before an audience of 100,000.The crowd was awesomely cool, everyone got along like old trusted friends.

The song was conceived and written as a tribute and remembrance to their former band member Syd Barrett, a founding member of Pink Floyd.

And keep in mind, this is 100% live. No sound guy adding little prerecorded effects or something else. Pure perfection.

I had the privilege of seeing PF several times in concert, each concert for a different album, and all of them outstanding. Unfortunately I never got to see Syd play with them, he was the soul of the group.

That is the beauty of Pink Floyd. Their talent musically to take you on your own private journey with every song is unequalled. On a side note, I've tried to sleep with Pink Floyd on and it is impossible, I just wanted to keep listening to song after song 🤣

In the 70's and 80's we would go see laser Floyd shows at the planetarium. This was going on all over the country. The experiences were incredible!

4 years ago a young friend of mine, burnt in his appartement. He was 20. He loved the Floyd so much, played their songs soooooo good on guitar... This song remembers him... I remember when I first fell in love with this song, there was a chuckle in the original recording that took me by surprise when I was listening in the car. I had spent the entire first movements in suspense for the vocals, and then after the first line 'Remember when you were young?', I heard this laugh that was so well recorded that I thought there was someone sitting in my back seat, and I freaked out!

Back in my college days I and my roommates would set aside whole days just to listen to Pink Floyd albums. Whenever I finished listening to a Pink Floyd song or album I couldn’t talk to anyone because I only wanted to bask in the afterglow of what I just experienced.

This is a true masterpiece. I prefer the studio version because it's longer. And Dick Parry's saxophones at the end always make me almost cry. If you're talking about the intro, it's not really an intro. On the Wish You Were Here album, the song is split into 2 halves. The first (part I-V) opens the album and the second (part VI-IX) closes it.

You can get lost , on this nostalgic trance place , only Pink Floyd can take you there , that you can have a hard time , to come back to reality.

This is a song for Syd Barret - he had psychotic episodes and breakdown and left the band early in it’s history - but he and his musical ideas remained a major inspiration for the band - still. Wow Nick, you are so sensitive to the nuances of the music. I prescribe lots more Pink Floyd and some Moody Blues. You’re right no with the jazz influences, I used to listen to a radio program late at night called Discourse on Jazz, all the cutting edge stuff, and a few years on I was hearing those influences in progressive rock, Pink Floyd etc.

The trick about listening to PF 70's albums is treat them as one single track to be experienced as one piece. Doing it track by track causes you to miss the transitions as all the songs seem to flow into each other. This is from the 1994 Pulse tour to promote their album, The Division Bell. They do DSOTM in its entirety live. Its out on blu-ray Feb 18 so grab a copy and watch it all, the concert is truly mind blowing. This is from the next album, Wish You Were Here dedicated to their former front man Syd Barrett who left in 1968 due to excessive LSD use. WYWH was recorded in 1975 and - strange but true - Syd turned up randomly at the studio, not having seen them in 7 years.

Yes, this is a Masterpiece. It's one of the greatest songs ever recorded. This tour was 30 years ago and concerts today don't have this quality of live music and production. I was at TWO nights of this Pulse tour in April 1994 at the Rose Bowl 20th row dead center both nights, It was the best concerts of my life and I've seen over 600. Two of my top ten concerts, the other eight were Pink Floyd "The Wall" Tour 1980 at the LA Sports Arena, Roger Waters and David Gilmore on solo tours! Pink Floyd is the GREATEST BAND EVER!!! I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know.

The only reason I got into pink Floyd is because I was looking for songs with the saxophone in it and this popped up, became obsessed with the song and the instruments then decided to o check out the rest of their music along with a saxophone player who did a live performance with them, she's incredible. Saxophone is literally one of the best instruments to ever be invented

Pink Floyd is an experience. They are master musicians that produce master works of sublime progressive rock songs. It is highly recommended that when you listen to a Pink Floyd album set aside the time to listen to the whole album because it’s one continuous story. Pink Floyd and Rush are my two favorite progressive rock bands. Back in the 70’s Pink Floyd’s light and sound show was so huge that it took fifteen semis to haul all of their gear to each venue. Pink Floyd was absolutely unique and their writing is still as relevant today as it was back in the 60’s and 70’s.

Shine on You Crazy Diamond is really a song about their former bandmate named Syd Barrett. He suffered a massive mental breakdown and had to be kicked out of the band. The story goes that a large man with no eyebrows or hair entered the Abbey Road studio (the studio that Pink Floyd was recording this album) during the finishing mixing . No one knew who the man until David Gilmour (guitarist) that realized that the large man was in fact Syd. He and Roger Waters were so distraught by his appearance that they cried. This is my favorite version of this song! I don't know if you cut out the very beginning of the song. The strings plays for a bit longer in the CD/Vinyl Pulse record. Truly a masterpiece! I can't even imagine what it would feel like being in the crowd at this amazing gig! I envy all the people that got to experience this great gig/tour!

from the pulse tour: SORROW, with ripping guitar. ONE OF THESE DAYS, ripping bass and David uses a flat pedal steel, KEEP TALKING, he uses a voice box with his guitar. There encore closer RUN LIKE HELL, visually stunning production. I like also MONEY and ANOTHER BRICK IN WALL live also.
