I don't see how walking around half-naked is considered freedom while walking around covered is seen as oppression. I feel confident when I wear my hijab and I'll never stop wearing it. For every struggle you experience because of the hijab,you'll definitely get plenty of rewards.Allah (swt ) knows what you're going through.

I remember when i started wearing a hijab. I was in fifth grade (so 11 years old). i was the only one in my school who would wear it. Many children looked at me weirdly and i was constantly asked why i wore it. People also started talking to me less. Sometimes i used to take it off because people kept looking at me weirdly. Once i told my dad about it and i will never forget what he said. He said "so what if people look at you weirdly? It doesn't matter what they think because you're not wearing your hijab to please the people around you, your wearing it to please Allah." I never took my hijab off after that and anyone who looked at me weird, i would just smile at. If i ever felt bad i would constantly say in my head that it didn't matter, it's for Allah. And now I'm not afraid. I'm proud to wear a hijab even though i get judged. I'm not scared if anyone tries to physically or verbally abuse me either because i know for sure that Allah will protect me as i am wearing the hijab only for his pleasure 😊

I recently watched a short documentary on an Indigenous tribe, in Brazil, who came out of the forests and came into contact with other people. In it, a woman mentioned how she happy she was to be given clothes to cover up. That was liberation for her.

I wore. The hijab when I could first talk. And the look on my mother made me smile. I remember going to preschool and telling everyone about it, they admired me so much! As I grow older I see the look on peoples faces, the fact I was not even borned at 9/11 makes it even worse because I did not know why they were acting like that. But I still wore it proudly not caring what others thought. Because this shows I'm not scared to be Muslim, and I'm not scared to be me!

I wear hijab since I'm 12. Alhamdulilleh I never ever wanted to impress other people. My mum always taught me how to always be proud of myself no matter what people would say. I just don't care. I raise my head in dignity coz I know alhamdulilleh it's the right path. I always make people feel that particular feeling that fill my heart : I have nothing less than you people and you people have nothing more than me. I have Allah by my side and that is sufficent. I feel in a bubble when I wear my hijab subhanAllah cannot describe that feeling. And nothing can touch me. I've made my studies with my hijab even if in France (where Im from and where I live) politics are making their possible to make hijab disappear. I don't know if people feel what I'm trying to say to them just through my attitude but alhamdulilleh no one in my entire life - and I am 30- since I wear hijab never ever has been disrespectful to me. When I walk in the street I never ever look down coz I feel I could fly with my hijab. One day, a 50 year old non muslim man stopped me while I was walking and he said to me : "I have four things to tell you : I'm a photographer and I just wanted to say that first you are beautifull, then you are polite, and I love the way you dress and the colours, and is your face always smiling like it is ?" This made my day, it was my victory and I'll never forget it. When I finally returned home I never stopped saying : "Alhamdulilleh for Everything and Alhamdulilleh for this Dignity". I hope every hijabi woman could reach these feelings, you have nothing less than people, actually you have The Light with you so smile and raise up your head. 😊💗

Alhamdulilah I started hijab late but I feel so protected in it. Without hijab you want people to look at you to praise you for your body but with hijab it's not about your body anymore you want to be admired for who you are for what you choose in life. Even lustful stares become bearable with hijab.

It is so sad that so many people all over the world have gone through something similar to what Naemma has. I am so grateful that Allah has never put me through a situation where I was oppressed for wearing my hijab and I only wish the same for everyone else. The point of this comment is that we should remember there are people who do see past my hijab and see me. For instance, in my gym class obe of my non- muslim friends asked me exactly what the hijab was and it made me so happy to know that she wanted to understand. Yes there are a lot of people who won't treat us equally but we have to remeber there are those who will.

Been harassed so many times because I wear a hijab, and could relate so much to this video (it brought tears to my eyes) but also because I'm brown. It's not you it's them, seriously. You're perfect and blessed for obeying the decree of Allah.

Even I've faced these kind of unhealthy and weird looks from other non Muslims in my early teens. This was an incident when I was 9 yr old. During Ramadan myself and some girls i.e, my friends where fasting. In lunch period we will recite some surahs and perform thasbeeh. One of the non Muslim teacher came to us and preached about her religion(which she used to do instead of teaching the subject, preaching her religion in the normal class hours) She asked the school maid to get some snacks and placed in front of us and forced us to eat and she said that making the small children to fast is an absolute sin. She blamed our parents too. Some of my friends where convinced to eat them just because it was there favourite snack. But I refused to get convinced. From that day she used to blame me for unnecessary reasons. She used to hurt me physically and mentally. She'll tell me to call my parents and blame me for unnecessary reasons and spoil my name. She will call some other teachers to pass on her idle time and start cursing me in front of me. She'll reduce my marks in my examinations. At that age I couldn't understand anything about it. I used to sit and sob on my mother's lap by reciting all these stories. Still now she used to say that I'm an egoistic person who will never be flexible with anything. She is residing near my home though. I know this incident is not related to this video but just telling my situation which I went through.

Alhamdullillah this brought me yo tears may Allah protect all our sisters and Ummah, and make it easy for us to pass this test! Keep it up Sister and keep reaching out to your global family, we need this and are very thankful for your boldness and modesty!

I truly understand you. Two years ago a started wearing hijab with one of my friends, my dad were out of the country, when he came back, he told me to take it off, I did, because I didn’t wanted to be disrespectful. I’m now 13 years old, and I want to start wearing it again. But there is just something that says to me that I shouldn’t, I live in Denmark and right one of the political parties want all Muslim out of the country, and I’m so scared. I go to scout as well and it so hard for me, there’s so few Muslim girls who is a scout, and i just feel so different, all my friends goes to parties some of them smoke it drink alcohol, and when it’s summer, everyone would ask isn’t it hot for you, or when I’m fasting, and I tell them that I’m not allowed to drink water, they get so shocked. Alhamdulillah last year I started in a international school and people are so kind, they are so curious in a good way, when I’m fasting they don’t eat or drink in front of me, or if there is something new from the political party they always hide it from me, so I don’t feel bad, and if I find out they will tell me that it’s not okay what they are saying or doing and everything will be okay. This just show me that there be so many people who is rude to you but there will many others who loves you and always have your back

None of my female family members used to wear hijab. When i was at my puberty age.. people on the streets used to look at my chest ..cuz u know.. during puberty all our private parts start developing😅 and not just boys. even girls used to stare at my chest ..i felt very uncomfortable ..then i asked mom to buy me hijab. After wearing hijab i felt so comfortable .Now i freely walk on the streets. No one look at my private parts.. but some boys still look at my face 😅 whatever Allah will punish their eyes. But i have obeyed my Lord's command by wearing hijab.and i love my hijab.😁😍

Ever since I was little I fell in love with my Mum's jilbaab. I loved it so much at the age of 2 I believe I tried to wear one of her jilbaab's and walk around with it- my Mum saw me and laughed then bought me a headscarf for my age. Then I started Nursery at the age of 3 and not one day I would not go without my hijab. Before I didn't know the history and meaning of the hijab and just wore it because I thought it looked nice and still do! However, Alhamdullilah I know the meaning of it and I am 13 years old now and did not go to school or any public place once without it :) I'm so proud of myself I wore it for 10 years straight and Inshallah I still will!

I started wearing hijab when I was 11 because one of my Muslim friends at the school wear it and I thought it looked cool on her. And I had no problem wearing it, in fact; I actually loved wearing it. But I hate it so much when people will come up to me and say things like, "You should take it off." or, "You are oppressed." There are also some kids that said, "You are prettier without your hijab." But I always shrugged it off and paid no mind at the time. (P.S I'm pretty pissed with people screaming at my face that I am oppressed, while in fact; THEY are the ones oppressing ME into opening my hijab smh.) However, the two other Muslim kids that also wear the hijab (there are three of us hijabis in the school) took their hijab off. It was such an irony because one of them inspired me to wear the hijab, and all of a sudden she took it off. I remember when the two of them walked into French class and the entire kids just look at me, the only student left wearing the hijab. One of them asked, "Well, aren't you gonna take it off?" I was so embarrassed when I saw the two of my friends walking around the school without their hijab. Anyway, alhamdulillah I kept wearing my hijab outside even if others will stare at me in contempt. I hope other sisters out there who are facing discrimination, bullying, torment, or oppression just because we are wearing a piece of clothing on our head to follow Allah's command are given the strength to stay strong, and patient when faced with such a difficult situation. Remember, Allah is with us. (If any of you sisters are facing any difficulties, feel free to talk to me :) )

I’m a Muslim young woman, I’m 15 and I just started wearing my hijab, and just this summer we travelled to Germany, and yes, it was my first time traveling with a hijab on, I realized a lot of people staring at me and giving me disgusting looks it’s as if I can read their faces thinking that I have a sad life and I’m oppressed just for wearing the hijab, one time, at a restaurant in Germany all the girls there literally only wore shorts not one pants, and imagine me not even showing my hair, when I walked up at the counter to grab our food, German people kept staring at me in a weird look and for some reason I think I heard a lot of whispering, even if I didn’t understand since I’m not German. But it hurt do much especially since it was my first time wearing the hijab in other countries, in my own country I feel so safe since we’re more open minded and girls even younger than me wear hijab where I come from, we never judge foreigners woman just for showing off their skin and hair, but for some reason other women+men in other countries judge us just for covering our hair and skin and they should know it’s our culture like we can’t change culture, and it’s our religion,

I’m so lucky because I’ve never struggled with hijab. Sure I’ve gotten some insults and judged from MUSLIMS even, and got it snatched off my head, but they were never struggles for me. As a kid, I didn’t care about what anyone thought. As I’m growing older, hijab isn’t a problem, but other things are. To all of you struggling, YOU CAN DO IT

For me it was the opposite. I didn't wear the hijab until I went to secondary school. Kids in my primary school said i wasn't Muslim if i didn't have a hijab. My life was flipped in secondary school. I had a hijab, but I got shunned for wearing it. Don't do something because everyone else is doing it. Do it because of Allah. Do it because of Allah. Do it for Allah.
