Our client Steve brought in his Porsche 996 Turbo track car for Brandon to "pin" the coolant lines. This is the same Porsche that Brandon did one of the coolant lines with the recommended JB Weld fix but now our client wants to be sure that the rest of the coolant hoses are pinned so chances of a failure will be slim. This is a time consuming procedure so Brandon takes his to be sure he gets it Right!

I have done this exact job but the owner opted to have them all welded. BBI welds them and pressure tests. It is also a great time to clean/service the injectors and replace all those coolant lines since they are 20 years old now. While the engine is out, replace the coolant tank. Filling the coolant requires a vacuum filler since there are so many places for air to hide.

We’ve got the coolant vacuum and ordered the coolant lines and other things. The coolant tank actually looks newer so that’s a plus. BBI uses new parts so that makes welding it much easier.

Some very understated skilled work going on here I’ve seen the result when these blow off and you can toast your engine so money well spent Excellent video 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😎

Some track days require you have them pinned or welded - losing traction and hitting the wall or someone else is probably the biggest risk vs. engine damage. When mine went, I just dumped my coolant on the freeway and got a low coolant warning before realizing what happened. They're welded now!

I assure you that a new engine costs far, far more than this did.

Man what a tight confined space to work in, I hate working in tight spaces. Kudos for doing that job, how many hours total did it end up taking?

Is this a design error or a design on purpose? So just not designed for the track? Built just enough to drive. Worked in parts for a Porsche dealer back in the early 80s. Things were much simpler, like drop the engine to adjust the valves.

I think it was an error because of it not being considered in testing. However it does happen on older ones that have been through lots of heat cycles. It wasn’t an issue for 5-6 years after they were first introduced.

Great job Brandon. If you weren't filming, how long would the entire process take you?

@@brandonwelsh2743 thank you. That's not too bad considering how much you have to do. Probably double that, at least, for a non pro
