As June 1st arrived, it only took a moment to see the landscape around my home in Montana become more green, and truly feel like summer is here.
The prospect of snow free trail to hike was a realistic idea, so I packed my backpack, and headed off to the Bangtail Divide Trail. It is a popular mountain biking trail, but also is used for hiking. As a point to point trail, it encompasses just under 25 miles of near ridgeline travel. Though just an overnighter, it was full of variety and adventure!

Love seeing the Ed Abbey paperback, the last quarter or so of Desert Solitaire made a big impact on me. And his part about bikes, I liked that rant too;)

Great video! And I find it refreshing that someone who lives in such a beautiful place doesn't take it for granted but stops to admire the scenery. Can I ask what you used to shoot the video? My phone is crap and I'm so old school, I still have my Olympus OM-1 film camera. But man, I've taken some great shots with that old heavy beast. And I have to thank you, Tip Tap and the 2020 AT thru hikers for getting me out walking in the woods. I'm seriously out of shape, uphill climbs may kill me, I'm not a fan of camping, but I'm having a blast. I look forward to seeing more of your adventures. Thank you so much for sharing them.

It looks like a beautiful area. I’ve never hiked outside of New England (New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut). I might have to take a vacation to hike out there in the next few years.

Thank you! I absolutely have a few hikes on the horizon that I'd like to do. As far as the triple crown trails are concerned, maybe the CDT, but not for a few years I imagine. I have so many things i want to experience before another 4-6 month commitment like another long trail.
