Could you possibly make a fleet Friday on a safety officer and include an explanation of the purpose of the safety officer
@tower401ladder4 жыл бұрын
In most places the Safety Officer is just another set of eyes and ears for the Incident Commander, and they primarily look for safety issues on the fire ground.

After seeing this vlog, i wondered what a safety officer would do. I'm a firefighter from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 and we do not have these officers, riding out with the crews. So a vlog about it would be awesome 👌 😎.

Re the patches from the Netherlands. Brandweer means fire department. It is pronounced brant veer. The first one doesn’t seem to have a city, the second is from the Dutch city of Zeist. I follow a Netherlands volunteer Brandweer in the village of Lunteren on KZfaq. They use Closed Captions for English translation so people all over the world follow them. I spent three summers in the Netherlands in the late 1980s so I learned a bit of the language.

Also, when doing Station Saturdays, if you guys could PLEASE tell us in the videos what the heritage of each station is, i.e. whether it's been with South Metro from the beginning, or whether it's been acquired from another district, which was in turn acquired from yet another district, and so on and so forth as applicable. I am personally interested in knowing which stations were ultimately from Englewood Fire/Rescue, which was acquired by Littleton Fire/Rescue one or two, maybe three years before South Metro acquired them. Thanks!
@Spitfire85204 жыл бұрын
Stations 11-19 are rather interesting as they were individually build and owned by the City of Littleton, Highlands Ranch Metropolitan District (HRMD), and Littleton Fire Protection District (LFPD) while still being part of the join Littleton Fire Rescue organization. Englewood ultimately did not join SMFR and went to Denver Fire Department instead. A quick list is below. 11-12: Littleton 13-15: LFPD 16: 1/3 HRMD, 1/3 Littleton, 1/3 LFPD 17-18: HRMD 19: Littleton 21-23: Cunningham 31-32: SMFR (Old stations were Castlewood) 33: Castlewood 34: Old SMFR (Castlewood renamed, modern SMFR kind of begins after joining with Parker in 2008, old station was Castlewood) 35-37: Castlewood 38: SMFR (Old station was Cherry Hills) 39: Castlewood 40: Louviers 41-46: Parker 47: Parker (Could be considered SMFR as it was completed in 2009 after the Parker/SMFR consolidated)

@Spitfire85204 жыл бұрын
If you are referring to the clip used in the early Unscripted episodes, Tower 32 drove through smoke from a fire, but did not drive through actual fire. They were responding as part of the 2nd Alarm for a commercial structure fire at Chili's assisting Littleton Fire Rescue in December 2016. The smoke produced by that fire was pushed by the wind across the road that Tower 32 was arriving on.

Hi there. I've got a question about how to tell who is who on the big alarms. How do you know who is Battalion Chief, Lieutenant, Captain and so on, on the fire ground? Here in Denmark the guidelines says: Incident commander wears a silver helmet, red jacket or a west with a red patch that says incident commander. The teamleader, the one in charge of the crew on an engine wear a red helmet and maybe also a west that says team leader. Firefighters wear a black helmet. Police wear a west with a blue patch that say police commander. The commander of the EMS/ambulance/health has a west with a green patch. People from EOD, CBRN wear a west with a black patch. All the west are in flouresent yellow.
@camden39574 жыл бұрын
Stefan H. At South Metro all Chief officers wear white helmets with White Helmet Shields. Captains wear Black helmets with red tetras and white shields. Lieutenants wear black helmets red tetras and red shields. Also the BC/DC have a little green light on top of their vehicles and when they have it on that indicates they are in command.

So safety 35 is that like a Battalion Chief or is not a commanding officer at all? not familiar with their role edit:spelling
@brysonmoran66194 жыл бұрын
No a safety officer can kinda of be a science commander but that is not there purpose. The safety officer is the person who does additional 360 and looks for potential safety issues. I hope that helps stay safe.
@camden39574 жыл бұрын
South Metro safety officers are a second set of eyes for the incident commander they dont really have a lot of task. They look at things about the structure or incident to make sure it is safe for the firefighters and everyone on the fireground. If they arrive first on scene they can assume command but when the chief officer gets on scene they usally take command from the safety officer and the safety officer will assume the position of ISO = incident safety officer.
