This is Pioneer's entry-level floating panel head unit measuring in at 9" for under $400! In this review, we go over the features and benefits along with a demo and after we are done we do a pros and cons list with our overall rating.

Appreciate this video. I just picked up this radio and didn't realize it wasn't AA until this morning. Apparently, "does is work with android" was the wrong question. Luckily, I can still swap it out before my install appointment.

If it had AA and AC customers wouldnt spend the extra money the get a better unit even though we as installers know how much better a high end unit with a true preamp section sounds. It would be a tough sell for most people

@BreakersStereo Appreciate the get back. It's for a work van. With the bigger screens now available up to 12 and I believe 14 inches, I just might make the move on a Boss🍻

Nothing wrong with this radio works perfectly fine been using mine over a year we link works great screen shows great. I don't know what you were talking about

what is the start up time from turning on the car and the music starts playing?, I've had a couple head units that take forever to connect and start playing music. Alpine Halo starts playing music in about 5 seconds

Not too sure… should be under 5 seconds thou… sorry we’re not more help but we should cover that feature more in the future.

Pioneer ought to bring out an updated version of this model with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Pandora would be nice but not a necessity for me. Other than that it's a very nice stereo it seems at a great price Amazon has it at US$348. I would buy if it had AA or AC. By the way I realized it doesn't have a remote. Can one work with it? I currently have the AVH-1440NEX. It hasAC but not AA.

Yeah I agree! Pay Apple and Google for the smart phone intergration and rise the price a little if needed. It can’t be that much

Why spend more for Apple CarPlay if I’m still going to have to rig up cables and adapters to get proper phone mirroring that’ll play Netflix and other apps on the more expensive radios anyways?

I use tidal for flac and hi-res audio and you can't get that through Bluetooth you have to have a cord so I don't really mind

It's nice you can just wire the usb cord it comes w to the stock usb spot and it's not that bad honestly

I think so. The part you mention Is the Singapore radio this is the American version.

It’s not unfortunate. Its a shame. Pioneer can easily add that to these units. However greed would make them jack the price to $700.

Pioneer wanted to hit a price point. If they would have put CarPlay and andriod auto they would have and to pay the licensing fees making it more expensive

Had a top of the line pioneer unit for 2 years and I turn on my car one day and there are just lines across the screen and doesn’t work. Crappy to say the least

Pioneer is absolutely ripping off customers now. This unit is garbage. I never would have believed I would EVER rate Android units but I would never buy another Pioneer over an Atoto or Kapud unit from Asia. But things evolve and so must we. I no longer recommend Pioneer units for clients unless its a single din for simple applications.

This unit is not for everyone for sure! The higher end units are still nice but definitely much more than the Chinese units. There are pros and cons to both but a market for both. Thanks for the comment

I have been saying the same thing. I'm usually a pioneer fan but over last couple year I can agree that pioneer is now a ripoff. Had two new unit go white screen on me the unit getting lighter and the power getting weaker 😢
