New belt required for this nice Pioneer cassette deck coming directly from the early '80s! (and a very basic adjustment too).

Thank you very much. I just received this model that I bought on ebay. The belts need replacing so I've ordered them and will try to replace on my own. Your video was very informative and I'll watch some more.

Strange that the meters change position when you turn at the output knob , I've never seen that before , I mean where is the reference . Normally only the volume changes when it's connected to the amplifier and the meter output in the display stays the same . Also strange that no-one below comments on that

Hi Sir i'm confuse how to change the gear belt on the centre ..
@bobof6737 ай бұрын
Yes, i had the same problem. Seems one must dismantle the whole mechanism to change that belt. It is only to rotate the auto stop mechanism, so i decided to cut the belt, feed it through and glue it together with superglue. Stripping the whole mechanism for that belt in my opionion adds risk to breaking something so hence i did the above. Good luck.

Agreed, nice unit...great job! I believe you can get software W&F, maybe also an app for your cell phone? ~Jack, VEG

Thanks Jack for the comment! :) I will do a search on some w&f meter software, thanks for suggesting that! Btw, I’ve been searching for a benchtop meter for a while but they are not cheap at all.. so maybe someday, if i get a bargain one, perhaps a repair candidate, i’ll get it :) Dave

@@DaveElectronics No prob! I know they are spendy, I lucked out, paid $30 USD for mine (BK Precision 1035) and it works! I just need to check its accuracy, but since I'm not worried about lab grade accuracy, I just haven't got around to it yet. I bought mine at a HAM swap, check your area to see if and when you have a HAM swap, you to may get lucky...I've also picked up free items as well. You don't have to be a HAM to attend unless you guys have goofy rules. :) Glad to see a video from you. ~Jack, VEG

You didn't replace the 5th belt. That's the one I am figuring out right now.

You’re referring to the one at 9:22? Because to replace that one you have to disassemble the entire mechanism. To replace it what i did was to cut the original one and I forced the replacement in place by opening a bit the top plate (using a screwdriver as a lever) just enough to slip the belt over the pin of the wheel, so without disassembling the whole thing. That’s a little bit crude but it worked fine. Hope it helps.

Doesn’t make any sense what your talking about. There is a screw/pin through the middle of this belt. Not sure how you went through this with a belt intact. Unless EU models are completely different. Witch is what I’m thinking as in your video vs mine, I had 2 extra screws on the front plate that were never mentioned in your video.

@@ohioreseller6381 I've done belts on CT-F600 which has quite similar mechanism. That tricky belt is for auto stop function, mine was ok but I decided to replace it anyway. To do this, i drilled a small hole in front of the shaft (this one is for pause engagement arm) and carefully pressed it out with suitable screwdriver, then moved arm aside a bit to get the belt through. Assembling is vice versa. Actually, there's no other way to do this belt, or the whole mechanism must be dissasembled. Hope it helped.

Nope. I'll pass and it shall remain as decoration which is what it would be anyways after a belt replacement.

Incomplete video. You have missed showing removal of front plate which will reveal a screw on the right side of the mechanism screwed in from the front to hold the mechanisim from its front side which must be unscrewed after removing the front plate. This mechanism is NOT designed to be easily user serviceable by pioneer.
