Couple of comments - Excellent video- Thank you. Something to mention, the center spindle has a bee-bee bearing on the bottom that sticks to the spindle when removing. Mine fell out and luckily I noticed it running across my garage floor. Next - My cueing seems gummed up and suddenly won’t raise up properly, although it did when I first started working on it. I’ve attempted to lightly lube it but it won’t go up on its own. Also wish you might cover where to set the anti-skate and balance on the arm. Finally, I’m hoping I can post a photo of my belt spindle covered in old belt material - wow! I picked this up in a garage sale and believe it or not, in spite of everything it does play “fairly” well. Finally, I wish I could send a photo of my belt spindle. It’s covered in belt residue to the point I thought it was a rubber gasket of sorts.

Thank you for showing us how and why to lubricate the motor & marker method. Keep up the good work. Is there a speed adjustment on this? If its fast, how do you slow RPMs?

Glad to see you back. BELT looks tight. Should run slow. Probably rubbing on the selector. 32.7 RPM would drive me insane.

It's actually running at 34.2 rpm. I lost the footage of the speed test.

@@TurntableGuy either way....I'd go mad. I have OCD about pitch. That is why I refuse to work on belt tables unless its a FG servo with pitch control a la technics SL-23. If you search kijiji calgary for Dual...you can see my work.

@@Poppinwheeeeellllllieeeeez I just had a quart-lock Dual (CS 5000) in here that I couldn't repair. Motor coils shot. That one supposedly keeps good speed, but alas, it's dead.

@@TurntableGuy common that the wires break between the windings. Can be McGyvered / Bodged but NOT ideal.

Great video! Regarding the Excel cartridge: this basic version (silver body/blue stylus) is not great, but ES-70F and higher are much better. Fun fact: LPGear Vessel and Sumiko cartridges everybody is raving about are made by Excel and use exactly the same generators.

I've had my Pioneer PL-115D since new in 1976, want to do a service on it. Pioneer didn't use a grease on the spindle originally? They used oil instead? I've read that the 30W oil for spindles should be synthetic non-detergent. Where do you find your Shell 30W? What's the smallest size available?

Thx for a very good and informative video. My start/stop/repeat buttons doesn't work...Where to start troubleshoot? Starting is ok, but it doesn't stop. It's like the repeat button is stuck. I have to pull the plug for it to stop. Please help😢...

Try cleaning the arm lifter rubber pad.

I have been using singer sewing machine oil As a lube for my 117d I just learn from you on how to take the motor apart to lube it Is oil good to use or switch to 3 in 1?

I have been using WAHL electric shaver oil (Clipper Oil). When used on my standing fan, it had the fan still spinning for 3 1/2 minutes after going from high speed to shut off. My 24 year old Danby window mounted air conditioner motor felt pads had dried up, and thus the motor was squealing big time. The oil fixed that many years ago, which is why it is still working after 24 years. I have also used it on old computer fans. Then comes my 1987 DENON DCD-900 CD player that I was using yesterday. It was previously skipping, but the oil fixed that problem after oiling the two slide spindles. Plus just a few minutes ago, I oiled the squeaky door on my Sylvania 2004 stainless steel microwave oven. And of course there is my Pioneer PL-510 turntable.

Chemical reaction....some turn to paste, sometimes gloopy, sometimes hard like plaster......over time is becomes problematic.

Hi TTG, thanks for another great video. A few years ago I picked up a 115D from a thrift store for $15. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qc6SfKWArbadYY0.html Great little turntable. It came with a nice Pickering cartridge. I also purchased another headshell and mounted a VM 95E cartridge. I think your customer will like the combination.
