One thing I've noticed, every professional no matter what the skill moves with deliberate purpose and everyone knows their job. Rarely do you get the one guy screaming and talking down to someone else. At a certain level you get a level of mutual respect and that is golden. Nothing makes a job suck more than feeling like you are expendable

I’m an engineer who worked in power plants for 45 years. I worked along side with pipe fitters and welders all the time. They do precision work in very difficult positions and make it look easy. Great group of guys (and women!). I learned a lot from them and still do some home welding projects myself.

Ok so I asked questions a little prematurely. Lol I'm a structural ironworker of 24 years, and I want out ! I've been building a weld trailer for over a year now. I've got pretty much , close too all the tools I need. Other than a flatbed and a larger machine. I'm running a bobcat 225. Last year I went got my 6G cert. Past it on my first try . I've tried like hell to get on a pipeline as a helper bit no luck at all. Everytime I'd walk up on a site , the man would ask ," who sent you? And who do you know?" My answer was always. Nobody . N that would end the interview every time. It looks to like it if you're not somebody's son , brother , uncle , nephew, or friend of the family. You ain't nobody. Fort Worth Texas here. Take care.
