Thank you! An early start never hurts, so whenever you feel you're ready to actually start flying and starting ground school. Good luck!

Hi all, for any students watching, one caution: pumping the throttle (as done here to prime the engine) should only be done while the engine is cranking so that the fuel can be sucked into the cylinders. Otherwise, the fuel dribbling down inside the intake manifold can create risk of an engine fire. Please use the plunger primer to the left of the throttle quadrant instead! Fly safe! Thanks for posting the video.

OMG I didn't know the big man was flying the Warrior in training!

Thanks snowy! I've been wondering about 172 startup procedures. I've never been in one but I've seen a cockpit sim replica and it does look pretty different. The Warriors definitely have loud generator sounds though haha. I was flying solo in this one, thanks for the comment!

Thank you! Just the checklist for starting up, like battery, lights, fuel pump etc.

Would love to hear what you are doing as you do it and perhaps why (aside from it being in the checklist). I've flown a fair few warrior many years back. So have forgotten most of the checklists. I now use Xplane to fly them and would love to know what I'm doing and why.

Looks like someone remembered the startup checklist! That was pretty good. It's actually pretty similar to a 172 start. Except that generator(?) sound was pretty loud. I don't remember the 172 having that, which is weird. Anyway, were you taking off solo?

Earlier the better, im fifteen and started a year ago. Hoping to have license when I get out of high school. If not ill join the air force

Nice video man I am about to turn 13 but hope to start pilot school at 14 what age do you recommend to start pilot school?
@barnabyg68086 жыл бұрын
patrick Hausler, I am in the same position, I have been told to do it as quick as I wish but be aware of starting a steps forward 1 step back, however leave enough time so that you aren't "ready" for your solo months before you are legally allowed
@scrungobungus83956 жыл бұрын
patrick Hausler there isnt a "school" unless you go to college. You pay private instructors. But i would recommend around age 16. So then you can legally have solo hours

Just seen this video. I'm completing my NAVs at the moment on the warrior. Just wondering why you use the throttle to prime as opposed to the primer?
@Airforceproud958 жыл бұрын
+shim103 Nice! That was just how I was instructed. However a few weeks after this we began using the primer instead because the throttle allowed too much fuel into the engine.
@Cheickstar0015 жыл бұрын
@@Airforceproud95 The same for me. I've been trained initially on a plane where the primer was locked (IDK why). So my instructor showed me how to start the plane up the way you do.

The throttle pumping puts fuel into the carburetor venturi, which can make a possible backfire more likely to be accompanied by fire. Priming the engine injects fuel right onto the back of the intake valve for each cylinder. Much closer to the action. Generally, priming is the safer route when a rich starting mixture is required. Engines do differ a lot in their priming requirements, even two engines the same, in the same starting conditions, can differ. Hope this helps.

@@Airforceproud95 Yup I had the same question 6 years later. I've only been shown to use the primer. But was made aware that moving the throttle makes an accelerator pump squirt a burst of fuel into the carb.
