Piping plovers are a federally endangered species because they live and nest on beaches. They're vulnerable to habitat loss and human impacts, but they're also used to seeing people on beaches. They can be tame and really cute. Birding is easy if you know where to look.

VIxia is the perfect tool for the job...nice! Please do another video when the chicks are hatched. Cotton balls on stilts with a cute scale of 11!

My goal this year is to see them on the sand dunes of West Michigan. They're adorable!

Respect! It's their beach. I just borrow it occasionally.

I agree PPs are the very definition of cuteness. If more people knew how cute they were, more people would want to help conserve them, but then more people would also want to go to the beach to see them, and the added traffic could be a hinderence. Great video

They are surprisingly speedy. Panning involved twisting my body to follow them in ways that my body hasn't done in a while, LOL.

They caught me by surprise. I didn't even bring my usual vlog camera - just my Canon video camera. But they were SO cooperative!

Seeing that one Piping plover looking out toward the ocean reminded me of Bobby Darin's love song, Beyond the Sea. Great video❤

I believe you're correct on the pairing up. I noticed toward the end of your video a PIPL sashaying up to another bird. So cute.

They are SPEEDY! As for great camera work, you should see all the failed shots. When they get up a head of steam, they're harder to follow than flying birds.

Thanks for showing this cute tiny plover. I hoped to see him at Bolivar Flats in Texas, but unfortunately I missed him. The breeding area was fenced there, not in Maine?

guess you can tell they're endangered by the fact that they're banded :P but most of them look like they're banded on _both_ legs, huh

For thumbnails - Photoshop. For video, two cameras. One for far, one for near. Only, I wasn't expecting to make a video that morning and didn't even bring my little camera.😊
