Dang, this happened to me too. Worked for a company for 6 years then as soon as I changed managers and we didn't get along well so I decided to talk to our HR about it next thing I know I got put into a PIP plan and even though I met most of the items in the PIP plan they still waked me out 5 months after getting PIP'ed.

PIP's are meant to mainly gather evidence to fire you down the road, especially when your boss does not like you as a worker or person. Get out before you have to check YES on the job application under Asked to Resign.

Exactly. It’s a “formal” way of saying “I really don’t like you and here are my scapegoat reasons (hidden in lack of work duties) why.

A PIP is your company saying that it's not a good match. They're giving you a chance to look for a job before they fire you. The very first thing you should do after getting on PIP is start looking for a new job. Also, don't sign anything. By the time the PIP is issued, there are likely some very strong impressions that you may not be able to overcome no matter how hard you try. At PIP time, it's likely that your job is very much a bad match. You're very likely to expend energy on something that is unsalvageable. Leave on your own terms.

A PIP is saying the company sucks. The bosses are not having the conversations with the employees so they can do their jobs well. I have been subjected to many of them. Many of the bosses hated me for advertising them because many of them are useless. This is a great reason I record all my conversations with my bosses now. That way, when they start lying, they can look like crap because it shows their evaluations of me are wrong.

If companies want to use them, then they can live with people seeing them. If they are given employees using inaccurate information, then send the inaccurate info to the person who is managing the PIP. Make sure you make it very public. For example, a boss told me I was on the phone with him for 2 hours yet the computer said it was 39 minutes. This boss was really angry when everyone saw what he did. PIPs are another way to say the company sucks. If they cannot figure out how to manage people, just imagine how they run their company.

I had to do a PIP - the issue was that our team had conflicting kpis (short call times and high first call resolution % with all calls logged) - when we were super busy, it was just easier to not log first call resolutions so that we didn't leave calls waiting. As soon as I got put on the PIP I decided to take the First call resolution thing seriously and just ignore waiting calls while I logged the ones I had completed. Our team stats went to hell, but my personal ones looked good - the boss lost his bonus (as did the rest of us), but I got promoted to the senior in the team, so they can have a good outcome :)

Got issued a PIP two weeks ago - l knew what the deal was so after 18 years with the company, l had provisions already in place to resign and semi-retire at age 45. When my manager joined our company 18 months ago (who is 15 years my junior) she asked what my 5 year plan was and l replied: hopefully retired and surrounded by clear blue waters and white powdery sand. Well l decided it was just time to take some time out and enjoy the next stage of my life. Our team has lost 7 members out of 10 in the last 18 months - I’m the most experienced member left in the team and have had a flawless record up till now so if I’m not longer wanted, then the beach life for me awaits 😎🍦

Any company using PIPs has bad management. It shows they cannot manage people properly.

I've always felt out of place in traditional jobs, even though I've managed to survive 5 Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) across 3 different companies. While the tasks were doable, I struggled with following directions. I stayed at each job for at least 6 months to a year and even maintained good relationships with most of my past managers. Now, I'm self-employed and have no plans to return to a regular job. Interestingly, I never received a PIP at jobs where I was eventually fired. My advice? If you get a PIP, read it carefully. If the tasks seem achievable, it's worth trying to meet those expectations.

Unfortunately a PIP is the same outcome from an employer wanting the employee to improve and the employer wanting to fire the employee. An employer may tell the employee without HR around "you should look for another job" if the PIP is meant to fire the employee. At the same time, an employee could relay to HR "hey, the manager is telling I should look for a new job! this PIP is actually not meant to improve my performance but get me fired!". In addition, the employer may say "we don't want to fire you" so that, when they fire the employee, they say "we did everything possible to help the employee improve the performance but the employee was so unresponsive to the feedback!". Nevertheless, if an employer wants to keep an employee and help the employee improve, the employer will give the employee an average performance review and then suggest avenues of improvement.

I just got laid off after a PIP. What my boss did not know is that I recorded all my meetings. I knew the PIP was BS. He got angry when I posted the meetings on KZfaq for all to see. You are not going to change your boss' behavior, but you can alert everyone that he is an asshole. KZfaq makes it easy to post the videos. kzfaq.info/sun/PLZf9uyhYCn4Oo_K5e6RF36IJDyiIwk7Uh

I was placed on one and asked why? I asked for a clear metric I am failing. Got it, and laughed. I am the number 1 performer in my department. By an extremely large margin. Basically, higer management were pressuring the team leaders to get agents to my level. I am not overly smart when u have answered the same questions 1000s of times. You know what to not say to a customer. I work at this job for a few years. Company has high turnover of staff. Hence, the issue, time and experience maks u better. I was given an award the week after the PIP for being a top performance (call centre agent). By higher management. And asked to say a few words, not knowing what the team leaders are doing. I stated honour and a privilege consider this my notice. Put me a PIP. When I am a top performer. Sh hit the fan for the team leaders and Hr.

Honestly this is a terrible video with skewed advice. Pips aren’t always a bad thing. Often times the employee has hit a roughy patch or maybe they need additional training. Most employers don’t want to fire people. They want to keep them. So if you’re put on a PIP then change yourself ways and correct the problems. Ask foe help and explain what’s going on with tour boss. You shouldn’t simply give up and immediately look for a new job. That’s the quitters way out and your issues will just continue at new company and you will see another pip there. Thumbs down for your video.
@LadyBoBannon Жыл бұрын
What fantasy world are you in? It's documentation to find grounds for firing you and gives you a set amount of time to quit or resign. If an employee needs training, then train. Why put them on a pip?
@vickyfan62001 Жыл бұрын
I disagree. If you have a good relationship with your manager, then he/she will talk or coach you about the areas that you needed to improve on, not put you on a PIP and surprise you.
@jaydenp4975 Жыл бұрын
@@vickyfan62001 what about after good manager do just that and the employee still fails to improve? Managers can do all the coaching they can and some employees still remain lazy or just don’t care. Written warnings and PIPs come along when people have been given ample opportunity and still don’t improve either because they don’t want to or just don’t care. I see it all the time.

@@jaydenp4975 I agree. Sometimes PIPs are designed as a wake up call and are not always a pretext to prepare to terminate an employee. That said, trust has been lost on one or both sides and it may be prudent to consider other jobs or seriously evaluate if you are in the right job or look elsewhere.
