Pirandai Chutney
Pirandai in Tamil.. Veldt grape is its English name. It is very good for health,.. Has lots of medicinal values. Good for control bleedings, good for bones, reduce swellings., so on..
Let us see how to make a delicious Chutney, using this.. It will nice for eating along rice, idly, dosa.. You can keep it in fridge for 4,5 days..
This measures will be enough for 3,4 person.
Ingredients
Pirandai - 1 bunch
Small Onions - 10
Ginger - 2"inch
Garlic - 4 cloves
Red chilli - 6
Tamarind - amla size
Bengal gram dhal, Ulundu dhal - 2 tsp each
Coriander seeds, jeera - 1 tsp each
Pepper - 1/2 tsp
Coconut - 2 tbs ( optional)
Gingerly oil, salt, hing, curry leaves.
Steps
Take only tender stems, remove the fiber parts and cut into pieces. Refer the video for cleaning method.
In 3 tsp of oil, cook it for 4, 5 minutes. Stir in between. Take it out. Add a tsp of oil, fry dhals, pepper, coriander seeds, jeera, red chillies.., add Onion, garlic, finely chopped ginger and fry for 2 minutes.
Add pirandai, mix and again cook for 2,3 minutes. Add Tamarind, a hand full of Curry leaves and mix. Add 2 tbs Coconut, hing, salt and switch off.
Once it cool down, add little water and grind to a thick Chutney. It is ready now.
