Very interesting video !!! Even though at my level I believe it is more important checking tyre pressure between sessions than trying more extreme compounds….as you say in the video, there are some compounds that need and only work at certain temperatures and faster paces than a below average rider like myself BTW I ride SC2s

Very helpful Abhi! This track game is such a minefield and really hard to navigate. Seems that the more you get into it and the more high performance you go, the more variables there are, which i guess is why the td slicks are a great option as it takes the guess work away. We probably all need a tyre man, massive budget m and about 10 sets of new tyres in the van to be sure... then its starts raining 😂. Personally mostly run dunlops which have been great and now on kr slick ms3 and moto 2 rear... were awesome in Portimao, but not sure how they'll work out on a cold march/april england track day at croft. 😬 Aaron Knox

@Chasing Tenths course and you have to use Pirelli/metzeler in most racing etc so it makes sense to stick to what you know. Dunlop set was ok price wise, think i paid 380 from no limits and that was what most of the instructors were on. All the beat mate. 😀

Never had an issue with the two types on my bike, however, as we get closer to summer and the temperatures rise, would it be better to run an sc1 on the front and keeping the sc2 on the rear ? And run the same tyres all year round? As temperatures here are 20 plus degrees most often. Cheers.

I've rode at Misano world circuit with SC3 in June last year and they were dangerously slippery. I suggest them as season opening or ending track days tyres because they work great with cold temperatures. I've used mostly SC2 and they adapt better with temperatures during the year than any other compound Pirelli currently offering. SCX, SC0 those are truly for qualifying laps tyres, definatly not for the average track day rat as me. 😁 Thanks for the video very informative.

what you mean by heat cycles??? if i get an track used SC1 will perform worse than a SP?
@ChasingTenths
@ChasingTenths 2 ай бұрын
Heat cycles means in Lehman terms; how many times the tire has gone through warmers off then on track then warmers on and also if not using warmers then; going on track then coming back in to the pits and then going back out again. So in the UK we have 6 to 7 twenty minute sessions on one trackday so thats like 7 heat cycles. If you get a Track used SuperCorsa SC1 (which is road legal too) that will be fine with a few heat cycles, but if its the SC1 Racing Slick, thats doesn't last that long anyways as its a softer compound tire and the wear dots on it will tell you the limits of the wear. You will be fine as long as the tire wear markers are ok. SC1 gives much more grip than SP. But SC1 does like to be used with warmers, SP warms up pretty quick on track within a lap without warmers. Please feel free to ask any further questions, I hope I haven't confused you
