About that narcissist part- you nailed it when you mentioned that sometimes someone who's really blocked can *seem* like a narcissist, but when you look at their motivations, it's clear that they're not. For example, my person is a Fearful Avoidant - and when they feel themselves having deep love or vulnerability, it triggers fear and terror, and often they abruptly run away, ghosting and abandoning you completely. And from the outside, that can LOOK like a narcissist punishing their victim with abandonment/cold-shouldering for bad behavior. But for a Fearful Avoidant, they're not trying to punish you at all, rather they're in fight-or-flight mode trying to protect themselves. (For a long while I thought my FA was a narcissist, but then I learned about attachment styles, and it all made sense - because my FA was actually a very nurturing and caring person.) Also, someone in survival mode is generally self-focused at the exclusion of everything else, and it can hinder their ability to have empathy - and that can look narcissistic from the outside too. (NOTE: I don't mean to gaslight anyone who may be dealing with an actual narcissist. I think narcissism is actually a bit more common than fearful avoidance, I think it's like 16% of people are narcissists, but FAs only make up 7%. So if you suspect you're dealing with a narcissist, trust your gut, do a lot of research, see a therapist and get a second opinion, and do what's best for you!)
