Just an FYI, I smoked 5 14lb turkeys in the Brunswick. Could have done 6 but was only asked to smoke 5. Putting out there because when I tried to look up how many turkeys I could smoke in this smoker I came out empty. This was a project for a group of school teachers. The turkeys came out great!

Regarding visible smoke, I've learned from other meisters that you DON'T want a lot of smoke, because it is usually "dirty" smoke when it's billowing that way. A slight blue smoke that is hardly noticeable is what we're shooting for. It still gives a good ring (as yours did), but without an overly harsh smoke taste that "dirty" smoke leaves. We want a smoke taste, but the taste of the meat should be what we notice most.

So, I have a brunswick. And the last two long cooks Ive done, have resulted in almost fire and a legit fire in my pellet hopper. 20-24 hr cooks. I remotely powered the smoker off yesterday via the app, and when I got home about an hour later, it was still in cooldown mode with the fan running. Thought that was odd, only to find thick white smoke engulfung the hopper. Took all the excitement out of the finished product, was still really good, but with a massive freakout. I maintain just like recommended, sweeping it out and all that. Not sure if you or anyone else has experienced this. Thoughts please!

I'm having the same issue. I'm going to start emptying the burn pot every 4 hours during the cook an a see if that stops it

Thanks for another great video. Recently got the Series 4 V2. It looks to me like the only thing I'm missing is a few pounds of pellet capacity. I really love the V2! I am a professional chef and we run a Southern Pride sfx 500 at my restaurant. The series 4 V2 turns out very comparable meat as the 22,000 dollar beast at the restaurant. This new technology can turn the weekend grillers into serious Pitmaster's with just a little bit of work. Thanks again for the video and Happy Cooking everyone.

I just sold my 7 series copper head. I liked it but my BIGGEST complaint was the pellets locking up in the hopper. I’ve used all sorts of pellets including pit boss’s brand. I had to use a stick to dislodge pellets in the hopper. My pellets were not stored in sealed buckets in a garage and I couldn’t load the 60lb hopper all the way for overnight cooks. I had to CONSTANTLY check the pellets to make sure they were feeding into the auger. Super aggravating. I hope pit boss re-engineered the hopper to a larger diameter to prevent lock up.

2nd video and subscribed, I'm a North Carolina transplant living in Wyoming and have no plans to move anywhere else. I'm a dyed in the wool Charcoal and wood guy, however we're in the process of starting a BBQ catering business and I'm looking at a pellet smoker to do my sides with. I will always do my meats with charcoal and wood, however I look at a pellet smoker as just another arrow in the quiver for a very specific purpose. Appreciate your videos, keep up the good work.

@@GrillSergeant It's a homebuilt smoker and trailer made out of surplus oil rig parts, we're in the process of retro fitting it now. It's for sure one of a kind. It was sitting in a farmers field for years, I had to get it since I used to make my living in the now decimated oil and gas industry. Thank you for the reply.

Thanks for your view on this unit. I was "fortunate" to receive one however like many I have read about, it was damaged and had to be returned. Had Pit Boss taken the lead on the repair/return of the Brunswick, I think the process would have been much better. Their hands off approach to the problem left a pretty sore spot for me. I did buy the Pro Series 4 V2 and have been happy with it overall. Hopefully in the future, Pit Boss can get the Brunswick away from Walmart and available through other vendors.

Yeah, I kinda get the whole exclusive part from a business point of view, but if Walmart does a bad job on their end it ends up making Pit Boss look bad.

Andrew you have me cracking up. FYI I had an ash, Auger, hopper fire. It was horrible. I love my Brunswick. Wish it had more prob ports. Also wish it had more shelves for when smoking small items but large quantity. But out of the the two smokers I have The Lockhart and Brunswick. I love both. But Brunswick is the best.

Good video. From what ive researched. Very thin blue smoke produces the best flavor. I would count that as a plus.

Great video, thanks Sarge. Although the ash cleanout is great, it looked to me like most of the ash ended up under the flame tamer. After my initial one hour burn in and then a 7 hour smoke, I removed the flame tamer and there was a lot of ash. There is also very fine ash on the top of the unit, most likely blown out of the chimney. I think it would also end up on the food. But still love my Brunswick!

I removed the 4 screws that hold down the fire box so I can take a shop vac every few cooks to clean out that area. I'm just puzzled with the little to no smoke, maybe back to analog is the way to go. LOL

Between the multiple videos I saw about this unit not being in stock I was afraid I’d have to settle and save $100… well to my surprise, after sitting in my cart for three days wondering if I wanted to take the chance and wait 4+ weeks to have a damaged unit arrive, one became ‘available for pick up tomorrow’ and literally just one. Idk if it was a fluke or the algorithm and tracking cookies actually did something useful for once 🤣 but I have yet to unbox it and there is a small dent on the bottom side of the box so hopefully the auger fan is not rattling on first start up. Might have a theory too behind why this happens watching how they pulled pallets off the shelf

I just had a hopper fire in my Brunswick tonight! I'm not sure what happened. I used it as normal and when I was done, I put it into shutdown mode. I then left due to a pet emergency and when I got home 3 hours later the hopper was smoldering. The fan was still running.

With overnight smokes I assume you dont fil up the water pan. Is it okay to run it without water, or at 225 does it not completely evaporate overnight? And thanks for the review, I just got mine and am stoked to use it

I just bought this unit it was $500 and I worked on this unit more than I've cooked on it. Day one the screw that feeds pellets into the burner wouldn't turn so after calling the factory they told me to drain all the pellets and turn it over on its side that was 80 lb of pellets. When we went to turn it on its side the handle on the back broke off because of bad welds and the unit fell to the ground almost crushing my friends foot. After drilling out cross-threaded screws in the cover over the motor we found the plug for the fan motor was not tie wrapped up and laying across the fan for the screw. And then phillips-head screw and part of a rivet fell out on the ground. Then the screw started working. cooked on it one time and now the ashtray will not go in or out due to the metal warping from the Heat. The company asked me to take it back to my local Walmart where I purchase it. I already had paid someone to deliver it and put it together now they want me to pay to have someone to take it back to the store. where they are out of stock of this units. Go to KZfaq and look up ashtray problems with this unit and you'll see where they suggest you use a C-clamp and Bend the top of the ashtray back down about every 3 months unacceptable. I just hope no one else has these problems it's very frustrating after spending this kind of money for this unit.

So i currently have the copperhead and i dont like the fact that the juices fall all my gauges down below, but that being said i love my pitboss. I like this due to that fact the gauge is up top so im seriously debating this

you should make a video showing ways to fix a clogged auger, my brunswick auger is jammed with pellets that got wet from a fire that went back into the hopper

I know that the vertical smokers are not grills! But in the highest temperature settings. Is it capable of cooking a steak or burgers?

Love watching your vids. I think I am going to get this smoker when I can find one available. One question I do have about this smoker is I have seen some vids about pellet smokers that talk about voids that can form in the pellet holder and won't let the pellets drop into the auger. To fix this they just stir the pellets each time they come out and look at the meat. Is this something you have seen with this smoker or will sifting the pellets alleviate that issue?

Sifting has been a game changer for me and my smoker has run flawless after I started sifting about a year ago. Less pellet byproduct in the hopper = less problems Thanks for enjoying the channel!

No. The burn pot is sealed off and the side vents will let out heat and smoke. You won’t really feel air being pushed out.

Looking at the Pro Series Elite, it would not surprise me if it was double the USD price or more here so I guess I will have to be happy.

Did 4 12lb briskets for the 4th. Took about 24hrs thought that was long. Did 4 thick burgers on the 4th, after 3 hours they still wasn't done. Wondering what the deal is

I think that because of how big the cabinet is it takes that much longer to come up to the set temp. Briskets would take me 24 hours as well. Pit Boss just sent me a barrel type smoker so I'm going to see if I get better cooking times with that.

@@GrillSergeant I had the pro from lowes and for a 12lb brisket it'd have taken me about 14hrs. I'm wondering if it was due to having 4 in it. The worrisome thing for me was that it took over 3hrs to smoke some burgers at 250

You really can’t go wrong with either. The Sportsmen will heat up a bit faster but the Brunswick will have more features to it.

how does the flavor compare between the brunswick and your old vertical smoker? I have a copperhead which I love, but was thinking of upgrading to the new brunswick unit. Thanks

So the flavor comes from the wood. So it will be identical. What I'm finding is a bigger cabinet takes longer to cook/smoke the food. But all that extra space is nice.

The manual warns to empty the pellets out so they don't exposed to moisture. Is that an issue? What are the fixes if you run into problems?

I leave mine in, but I live in an area with little to no humidity. You can dump the pellets out the back after you are done with the cook if you see any signs the pellets are swelling...

So did they take your advice and make burn plate heavier? Just got mine in March of 22 and haven't had a problem yet.

Just finished assembling my Brunswick Platinum series 5 and the auger doesn't start no matter what I try, customer service is sending a new part, not sure what means, new auger or new motor. Not real happy with it so far.

Guys, this is $349 at my local Walmart right now. Is this a really good buy? If there are other units that I should wait for I'm happy to do it because I don't really need it. But if $349 is a great deal maybe I'll go after it. Thank you for the input!

Can you tell me again what PID means, taking notes < snorts like Crissy Snow >. How many do I need to count out in pellets? That is a cool tip. Ash clean out is darn cool. Could you use a plastic needle brush to help with the ash?? I am on it I am a cigar smoker does it count. Thanks Andrew. Stay safe & take care of you all. Thanks for sharing eh :))

I left mine covered for this last winter, popped cover off opened doors to a infestation of mold. Wtf.....so mad. No idea how that happened. I clean it after every smoke. Never had a sticker burner do this.

I'm not too concerned with seeing smoke or smoke rings, but I am concerned with smoke flavor. Do you feel like you get enough smoke flavor here? I currently have a Kamado Joe, and a vertical propane smoker, but I am looking at upgrading the vertical smoker for more capacity.

My current pellet mix is 50/50 comp blend with charcoal pellets and I get a really good smoke flavor. That being said I’ll be dropping 14 videos soon reviewing every bag of pellet blends that Pit Boss makes so make sure to keep an eye out for those videos.

Up and running with the Brunswick platinum love the unit, my only wish so far is more smoke flavor. I have tried to got a amoke tube to stay lit to no avail. Any help would be welcomed.

How did you get the Brunswick. I have been looking for over a month. No one has it. Even the web site says order from Wal-Mart, wrong they don't have it. I got the Pro yesterday from Lowes. I really wanted the Brunswick. Sgt you put out great info. Thanks

To be honest...I would have gone with the Pro Series 4 V2 if I knew it was coming out before I bought the brisket. You will be fine with your smoker...

@@alfa8822 I bought the Brunswick before seeing the new Pro Series 4. I had the original Pro Series 4 and really loved that smoker. That being said I am still 100% happy that I went the Brunswick route. The extra width that the Brunswick gives you is really handy for Briskets!

@@GrillSergeant Thanks for replying! Great videos! The only issues in your video that give me pause on buying the Brunswick is how long it took to heat and you didn't see any smoke. I've heard that it's the "blue smoke" that actually flavors the food and you can't see that smoke. Do you think that could be why you didn't see any smoke but the food was on point for flavor and smoke rings? How did the grease catch work? I really liked that feature over letting the grease fall into the water pan. Hopefully they will include that in newer models. Can you tell me why you would pick the new Pro Series 4 over the Brunswick? The one at Lowes only has a single meat probe.

I own the Brunswick and it is not a good smoker at all. It's a cooker!! I have put smoke tubes in it and my meat does not come out with smoke flavor. Maybe the slightest faint hint of smoke. I have tried so many different temps etc. I came to the conclusion that this particular unit burns too efficiently for good smoke production. For people who don't like smoke flavor it's a great cooker and easy to use and keeps temp great. But if you think your getting a smoker, your not. I am a BBQ afficianado and so are some of my friends, and as a group we have decided with many trials that it's not operator error it's bad engineering on this particular unit. I do not like this unit because it does not put any smoke flavor into meats. But if you want a outdoor cooker oven it has a lot of room and keeps a steady temp. But I got it to smoke and it doesn't do that well at all so I give it a 1 out of 5 stars.

Thanks Edwin! Usually the hotter it is the more I will open the top stack, but that also depends on the outside environment. If it's really cold out you don't want it open all the way because you want to try and trap the heat but if it's really hot out, trapped heat can overheat the unit. For 90% of my cooks I have it open up half way and and I'm good to go.

Do you feel like you are not getting enough smoke? When you talk about not seeing a lot of smoke are you talking about not getting a lot of flavor from smoke or just not as cool because you don't see a lot of smoke.

The smoke flavor is there in the protein and you will get an impressive smoke ring but it burns clean so it’s hard to see the smoke so a lot of people will complain about the lack of smoke (visually)

i have a 10lb turkey and 14lb turkey, should i put biger turkey on top and smaller one on bottom. i have a new bruinswick, i need burn off, but it didnt hold temp real good, it keep getting higher temps, maybe cause it was empty, sort of worried to use it. i also hve 1000 series pit boss i just bought too. 1000 D3. what would you recomend.thanks ex gunnery sergent muniz.

No because the flush mount ash tray acts as the bottom (base) of the fire pot.

The fuel source is wood pellets. The unit gets a fire going and keeps it at whatever temp you set it at.

Depends. If the temp is low I like to keep it closed. If I'm running it hot I like to leave it open. Some will do the exact opposite. lol tbh it really does not matter.

@@GrillSergeant Thank you sir. I have UDS smoker my Brother-in-law made me and I love it. He had me to do the burn off before I used it then he had me to spray cooking spray all in it and let it smoke for about 30 min before I started cooking with it. Should I do the same to my vertical Pitmaster
