2 жыл бұрын

In today's video we open up this years silage pit and see what's been brewing underneath the plastic. We service up the shear grab, clear tyres off the pit and get a look at the silage and opinion from father phil. The bulls in the shed get their first taster of it. Then me and Liv go and move the pigs after we set up a new larger pen for them, as they've turned up all the soil and are finished where we first put them.
Hope you enjoy, any questions hit me down in the comments below, thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe for more. Videos every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Good day, Phil. That is some knife you have to cut the cover off the silage. Yes, the mixed ration is the best, Phil. The pig yard looks great! They will do a great job cleaning off the weeds and rooting up the soil. Moving the fences as you have keeps them clean. They look wonderful! Good job, Liv!

Love the pigs love em. More of Livs piggy content please lol even a pig cam . We used to put our pigs in the old veg patch at end of harvest. Dig it up, fertilize and they eat any leftover stuff. But we also used to give them pig swill back in the day..

A little tip, some pipe insulation (the grey foam type) around the first electric fence stake will electrically insulate it from the sheep hurdles.

Looks like nice stuff. A shear grab with spikes instead of a bucket bottom would carry twice the stuff and leave a cleaner edge on the pit. Also save you hours and hours foddering them all winter (with the bigger grabs)

Great video Phil and LIV, would you consider removing the horns from the bulls. They could easily hurt each other. The silage is great quality. 👍

Great videos and well done on the 50k! When gathering up the netting lay it flat on the ground grab one end stake and walk to the other end picking up each stake as you go then use the stakes as a centre to roll up the net, when putting it out let the net hang down and hold the bunch of stakes and walk backwards letting off each one as it stretches the net. Won’t get tangled up or twisted that way!

Research on the toilet training of cows aims for positive environmental impacts NZ University of Auckland- have demonstrated that cows can be toilet trained. In the Northern Hemisphere, cows spend much of their time in barns. In New Zealand, they spend most of their time outdoors. This makes toilet training more of a challenge. However, cows do gather for milking and receiving supplements, so it may be possible for them to use a latrine at those times. www.agscience.org.nz/research-on-the-toilet-training-of-cows-aims-for-positive-environmental-impacts/#:~:text=In%20the%20Northern%20Hemisphere%2C%20cows%20spend%20much%20of,them%20to%20use%20a%20latrine%20at%20those%20times.

Any wonder there's thousands of shear grabs of silage there!!! The shear grab isn't even full only half loose loads with a bucket-whole point of a shear grab is the intact airtight block that you leave for days. Shear bucket are meant for maize or cereal silage. Otherwise good looking silage.
