Mild hybrid systems are making their way into more and more cars nowadays. But can you feel the difference between this and the normal SX4?

I bought this car. That "annoying recuperating feeling from the engine at small speeds" that the host mentions is just us forgeting that this car actually has an electric engine. After you get used to it, it actually drives better in traffic jam situations than cars with just regular petrol engines. I am happy with this car. It is interesting to drive, very comfortable and its consumptions are indeed very low. I even like how it looks, especially at the front.

Mine is completly new with 300km on clock. Front wheel drive and it is on 6.4l - 6.5l/100km. So, I should espect even better numbers than yours?? Or? And you can charge your phone quite normaly with adapter in 12v socket below cocpit ( usual place). It charge really fast.

Hi there. Which one would you recommend, between this and Vauxhall Crossland X (and possibly why)? Thanks.

I live on a hill and have to drop ~400 meters of altitude over ~4 km (Speed Limit is 80) daily. Do you think the regenerative breaking can help with extending brake as well as engine life (especially in the winter I'm really concerned about using my engine to brake when it had zero time to warm up). I'm kinda torn between this and the Duster, do you have any advice what to get in my situation?
@Pit-Stop
@Pit-Stop 3 жыл бұрын
First of all, because of the world we live in, I have to give you a disclaimer - the following is not professional advice and should not be taken as such. I will not be responsible for any damage caused to your car! There. As with any hybrid or vehicle that includes an electric motor and features regenerative braking, the more powerful the effect, the less you will actually use your physical brakes, extending their life. With fully electric cars and 'one pedal driving' it very often results in using the actual brakes only to slow down to a complete stop from low speeds, where regeneration doesn't have much of an effect any more. Engine braking, on the other hand, should not harm your engine, as long as you don't push it close to redline. And yes, I would not be revving any cold internal combustion engine high, whether by applying throttle or going downhill; things don't have time to get to a proper operating temperature. Both the SX4 and Duster are good picks. But do definitely test-drive both yourself first, before making your decision.

Please, did you ever checked completely drained or completely full Li-Ion battery? Would id be a problem (fully drained)? Thanks!
@Pit-Stop
@Pit-Stop 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think the system (or, in fact, any electronics on Li-io batteries) will ever allow them to get fully discharged through use. The only way I could see them discharged below safe voltage is by not charging them for months (or years), in which case they will refuse to charge again through normal means (can still be sometimes charged but the process is different and requires a few electronic tools) or if the battery became damaged in some way. Whatever the case, since this is a mild hybrid, I think you would still be able to drive normally, just without the extra electric engine and the car would most likely throw error codes at you. But, again, I'm just guessing.

@@Pit-Stop Thank you very much! I just can't decide what new car I should to buy: Suzuki S-Cross with older look and mild-hybrid engine or Citroën C4 2021 with modern look and features and "pure" petrol engine. I use my car to drive to work and for frequent trips. Mostly asphalt, here and there a forest or field road.
@Pit-Stop
@Pit-Stop 2 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming you don't really need AWD, then. Honestly, I think you should test drive both and see which one you prefer. I can't speak for the new C4, since I haven't driven it, but the S-Cross is a nice little car. For frequent trips, I'd almost say get a diesel, although those are apparently being phased out by more and more manufacturers. You should also check whether you'll be paying less tax in your country if the car is a mild hybrid.

I have a Vitara, it's better looking, I tried to convince myself I could like this but failed. I have tried both and the Vitara's ride is superior.

Same thing here..S cross would suit me better with bigger boot space,but tried them both, thought over, and over about it,and at the end I went for full spec Vitara. And I love it so far..(I wish it had a bit bigget boot...,but apart from that all is great!)
@mariojager43

@@vukasin5667 quite like the new Dacia Duster 150 bhp 4x4 certainly bigger than the Vitara but handling wouldn't be as good or the refinement. I also have a Stepway and it surprisingly good as a second car.
@domagoj5455
@domagoj5455 3 жыл бұрын
Vitara as pointed has pretty average boot for today's standards. So I would rule it out. Probably in favor of Kia Xceed which has similar price but much bigger boot, imho much better design and also better interior and infotainment by the way.
@domagoj5455
@domagoj5455 3 жыл бұрын
@Chris Trevanion that's true for 4WD but again for majority of people boot size is more important than 4WD. Also, 4WD is needed only for heavy off road rides or heavy winter conditions which I don't experience in places where I ride my car. It also brings bigger fuel consumption as side effect.

@@mariojager43 yes but the only difference is that duster have 3 stars euroencap and sandero 4 so till 5 stars 🤔 it's a long path. I don' t say regarding the look style or the design but they don' t have rear disk breake and the small detaill will make the difference.

So... mild-hybrid with AT transmission is not even offered? I wonder why.
@Pit-Stop

@@Pit-Stop I see, thank you. I have SX4 S-Cross, with 1.4 AT and Allgrip specification, model year 2018 and it consumes around 7.0 L/100. With manual and mild-hybrid seems the fuel consumption is noticeable better. Nice car and - as always - nice video!

couldn't you attach usb charger to a 12V port? That way you will get much faster charging and convenient location of usb charging port.

Defeats the main purpose of having the USB ports to begin with.
@domagoj5455
@domagoj5455 3 жыл бұрын
@@Pit-Stop sure but as it's annoyance (both for location and speed of charging), it's easy solution to that problem. If 12V is on the front dash on easy accessible location. Most cars don't have USB ports with support for speed charging anyway.
