as an only child that grow up with moutains of expectation ontop of expectation from both of my parents, this is the first animated movie that touch me and made me cry... it feels like a warm hug that i dont need to be so hard on my self, something that i prob never get from my parents

It doesn’t care if you’re big, small, rich, poor, happy or sad. It will come to you. One should accept the concept of death and respect it.

@@sian5483 no, death is as bad as it seems. It is even worse than what most people realize and the fact that no one can escape from it does not soften the blow. Trying to rationalize is a fool's errand. This universe does not make sense and it will one day end what will follow is void, for times we can't even begin to comprehend and there is no guarantee anithing like our universe will ever happen again. Being able to observe its beauty knowing one day you will just disapear should not bring you a sense of fairness, there is no fiction that can come close to the gutteral horror of non existance. It is the ultimate defeat. The reason most people go on is because they either rationalized it in some kind of way or just do not think about it.

agree you should definitely watch. I think part of the reason it wasn't as huge/popular is firstly because it didn't get huge amounts of promotion. At the same time, it caters WAY more to adults since it's more philosophical in nature.

In a short, 22 started a rebel group with the acronym "Apocalypse." 22 tried to stop the flow of souls to Earth. It didn't work because she kept inspiring the other souls. Joe is more dangerous. The problem with Joe is that he could have been trying to get on television back on Earth instead of playing piano. On television, Joe could have told everyone his story and to jump off the conveyer belt into the darkness, where to land, how to avoid Jerrys, and to confiscate earth passes. It wouldn't have made sense at the time. However, if some of those people remembered until after they died, their resistance could have caused a much bigger problem than 22 running around. So, Terry headed off a possible bigger problem. That being said. Terry usually only talks to Joe even when 22 is present. I don't recall Terry addressing 22 until he yells at the corrupted 22 for interrupting his award ceremony and makes the situation worse. Contrast that with how the Jerrys try to coax the lost soul version of 22 back from the Earth portal. Terry seems temperamentally unsuited for handling unborn souls, which is majority of the work that is usually done around there. He probably doesn't lend a hand with anyone else's work regularly. When Terry does something, he demands an award for it.

I love the fact that those Jerry understand the concept of second chance and not strictly followed the rule like Terry. Showing that they really understand human to have compassion. But I wonder, what kill him, he doesn't head fall down the sewer to have sinificant injuries. Also he's in hospital and his vital is stabilized, it show he's alive, yet why does he have to go to the Great Beyond?

the theory i subscribe to is seamus Gorman's theory that the jerries put one of their soul portals over the manhole and took his soul from his body without killing him because they knew he would be helpful in getting 22 to find their spark

I heard they were gonna do something special with Mr. Mittens in a post-credit scene but it got scrapped. It would have explained the Great Beyond a little more and would've shown that Mr.Mitten wasn't meant to be there yet. That's why he comes back in the end.

Underrated movie. I’m someone obsessed with philosophy. What makes a soul. Where those souls go when their mortal body dies. The value of that soul. Even before its first breath. It’s great how they depict souls before they enter a physical body. They have personalities and a will but their purpose and destiny is ultimately up to them. Their fate may be to return to this realm and enter the “Great Beyond” but before then life is what they make of it. Their personalities will also be changed based on their genetics and growth. Not set in stone, just a nudge to get that soul moving.

In my dumb theory of this movie I think this is a perfect reflection of how Gabriel is to god. Gabriel is gods “perfect angel” and is meant to be a perfect being in the every way but literally takes there oath to this very seriously to the point where they will stop at nothing to keep it perfect. God in the other hand is very less serious of roles for mortals (at times) and even quotes on the fact that perfection is an illusion but keeping a maintained faith is perfect enough. The way I see it terry is Gabriel wanting to perfect the world by keeping a number on how many souls go through while jerry is god where they try to keep a peaceful yet balanced order of things

I always thought of this like this. Jerry and Terry are god split. God became a collection of Thoughts and reorganized heaven. All the Jerry's inherited his love while Terry got the rest.
