Found the ending of piya basanti after 15 years. I didn't even know what i had been missing.

We fled Kabul, Afghanistan because of barbaric Taliban regime and went to Islamabad, Pakistan in 1999. This song was played in MTV, ETC and other Indian channels back to back in 2000. I used to listen to it alot in Islamabad. In 2001 I moved to Scandinavia and ever since I've lived here. I accidently came across this song after so many years and I kept listening to it again and again. It brought back all those sweet & bitter memories. 🇮🇳🇦🇫🇸🇪

That old woman was a straight badass yoo! And as a Nepalese, I can wholeheartedly say that the fusion of the Nepalese song in this worked wonderfully. Its one of the most dearest Nepalese song treasured by my parents and they too approved of this! None of us had ever heard or come across a Nepalese and Hindi mixed song before, and were pleasantly surprised! Wonder why it doesn't happen more often though, esp when the outcome is as sublime as this?

Here's the meaning of the nepali audio from 0:35-0:50: "Nachyo maichyan timi damphu ko taalai maa" means that the guy is asking the girl to dance to the tune of damphu (a local musical instrument) and "maya timi laideu malai bihey garchhu aaune saalai ma" means if you fall in love with me too, I'll marry you in the coming year itself. I was listening Piya Basanti re today and was thinking that it was the best music video ever made in Hindi industry. I have watched the video like 2000 times since 2000 and always wondered why it says "end of part 1" in the end. So today I decided to listen to the other songs of the album and found out the very next song of Piya Basanti is the ultimate part two. My curiousness of 19 years has been answered. For me it's literally those two eloping 19 years ago and today their 18 year old daughter is here with the father reminding all those memories. The old Piya Basanti Re in Ustad Sultan Khan's voice in the end of this video has brought tears in my eyes...

I had the whole album in a cassette... one of my most treasured possessions. Surmayi aankhein and chale re kahar chale are two different (and beautifully sung) songs in the album. Another two I remember by heart are "sham dhale sona bikhraye", and "koi pyaar se mujhe" Ustad Sultan Khan and KS Chithra are absolute legends. 🙏
