The funny thing is Homer's stupid "she's just bullying for attention" is closer to reality than Lisa's science. I wonder if that was deliberate.
@SKyrim1903 жыл бұрын
It is deliberate and also a cliche in many episodes about bullies in cartoons and TV shows. The joke is that Homer also defaults to thinking through clichés, without consideration to what he has just witnessed
@TheDeathmail3 жыл бұрын
Yes and no... bullying can be complex... from attention, to getting rid of rage, to habit, to maybe being a psychopath, to even just them having fun. And it can be degreed and varied. Some bullies might not think they are being bullies because they act that way towards their friends and everyone is fine with it... For instance, a group of friends think it's fun to throw each other into lockers and think of it as harmless, but to one kid, it's not that way. Or if a group of friends commonly make fun of the others but when they do it to an outsider, they feel insulted and afraid.
@firebeardnc60123 жыл бұрын
Let's not listen.
@8Rincewind3 жыл бұрын
@@TheDeathmail I appreciate all that, but I didn't say "Homer is entirely right about bullying". My point was that the "dumb" cliché answer was more realistic than the "scientific" "bullies can smell nerd pheromones". I thought Luiz made a good point about how it's Homer not listening and only thinking through clichés. Originally I was wondering if the writers were mocking science in some way. Or maybe they were making a point about how clichés aren't always the most ridiculous options. But I think I was overthinking it, I think Luiz had the right idea and it's just the writers using a cliché to close with a joke about Homer being stupid.
