I suggest getting an air 80 tint all around everywhere, it’ll make it SIGNIFICANTLY cooler in the car.. especially with AC off. Air 80 has no actual tint to it, it’s just to keep heat out

I actually dusted off the wallet and got good quality tint and clear tint on my front windshield and the difference in interior temperature was amazing. All my previous cars I just liked to get whatever was cheapest and looked good. This time I needed my AC to be able to keep up with Texas heat and sun. I did Lexen ceramic on the back and doors, then air 80 on the front. 3x the cost of a normal tint job and worth every penny.

I love how helpful and excited they are to help an EV reach its best possible ET. At most tracks both staff and people in general tend to be salty and unhelpful towards, or even downright try to sabotage EV's, because they've been so invested in souped up gas cars for decades upon decades, and they likely feel threatened by what electric cars can do. I'm a petrolhead myself, and I have been for almost four decades, but I love the EV revolution. It is the future.

I really appreciate the Drag strip education that you are providing. I am speculating that the water everyone is driving through after picking up their slip is a traction factor if it was a slow night and the water does not have enough time to evaporate. The water could be dripping off the car down the track. The track should correct the road so the water does not puddle for no other reason but safety.

I spontaneously clapped here (sitting ovation!) with that 5.99! Great going! With most other things being equal, the quickest run seems to be determined by your 60' times. That 1.46 60' was telling, and you could see the results of that launch carry through the 330' and 1/8th mile times. It shows that with the Plaid the charge level definitely makes a difference, but it's an accumulative effect with several factors all adding up to a better time,. And with great traction, the Tesla Plaid breaks records! Kudos!

@@TeslaPlaidChannel Yeah, it's great to get a stock baseline. But I'm not sure that you would want to spend too much money to edge just a little quicker, seeing that you are already having to sandbag to give opponents a chance to get closer to your speed. yay 5.99! the no cameras on the outside seems to do something, doesn't it? i had that in mind for the 1/4 mile, but who knows, maybe it even does sth for 1/8? also: power is volts times amps. so the lower voltage can be "replaced" with higher amps to a certain extent. more amps means more heat though. so the cooling has to come in more and more with lower battery percentage. more heat doesn't have to be bad tho. the lipo cells like it a bit warm.

Crag/Wind-resistance doesn't matter til 60mph. On the Raven, hitting ~100mph in the 1/8th, the mirrors folded in probably wouldn't make much of a difference. On the Plaid, hitting ~120mh in the 1/8th, i would think there could be several 1000's easily gained. The Plaid in the 1/4, mirrors in...at 150mph, could possibly get you multiple hundredths (we're talking a few feet), but every little bit adds up

Generally speaking: Showtime every Wednesday and whenever they have Street Warz (one Saturday each month). Bradenton on Thursdays. But lots of rainouts lately! Rain showing in the forecast for the next 9 days straight.

but how do you get right before the second light without first pulling past it and backing up (at which point the other guy could stage and the race is on)..

That would be really bad etiquette on the part of the other driver. Racers often do long burnouts and go past the start, and the other driver should always wait for him to back up…

Very nice, i just saw chet burn off the tires on his plaid, and i do wonder how the car would run with some slicks and the traction control altered or removed

deep staging with a higher mph makes sense since you cover slightly more distance and get more time to get there
@TeslaPlaidChannel
@TeslaPlaidChannel 2 жыл бұрын
But it's actually less distance with deep staging. About 14" less than a shallow stage...

I wonder if the tracks would be willing to give you access to a 50A 240V NEMA 14-50. Might be less time than running to the supercharger

Are you sure the Bump-in was caused by the front wheels and not the front end lowering with the fender blocking the beam?

@TeslaPlaidChannel

It definitely has been faster in the 1/8th, and no reason it shouldn’t carry over to full 1/4. (The overall diameter of all Plaid tires involved is exactly 28.0”)

@TeslaPlaidChannel

None of our Tesla orders have included FSD. Frankly, it struggles with basic AP so much, I’m not convinced it can ever be an all-weather feature. It can’t even avoid a common pothole, so why would I want a feature that steers right into them?

wait, so does this now mean you are now able to stage yourself in cheetah/drag stance every race from now on (if you feel like it), even if your opponents don't wait/know you are lowering your car? yeah i agree, tom is amazing guy it seems, i can't remember when, but i said it a while back. awesome video!
@TeslaPlaidChannel
@TeslaPlaidChannel 2 жыл бұрын
It truly is a breakthrough. Still it super easy, and it requires first going past the beams and backing up to know that the tire is right next to the second beam. But if done correctly, and quickly, the other car can’t do anything to discourage the Launch Mode process. (Assuming the agreement is for them to stage first.)

Congrats on the 5.99! IMO, I don't see what you have to gain deep staging. The clock always starts when the second beam clears either way so if you shallow stage, you'll already be rolling a few MPH when the timer starts. If you deep stage, you lose your 1 foot rollout and the timer starts from zero: so you should get a worse ET and worse MPH. I just don't know why your MPH was higher when you deep staged: perhaps just coincidence?
@TeslaPlaidChannel
@TeslaPlaidChannel 2 жыл бұрын
Agree! And that MPH was just an anomaly I believe.
