One tip I can recommend is to allow time to explore the city rather than just going from attraction to attraction. For example, during my first visit to London I spent the time going to attraction to attraction via the tube. This meant I saw a lot but didn't really "experience" the city. For my next visit, I made sure to walk through the streets more and rely less on the subway. You can happen upon some amazing hidden gems by just walking around a city.

I agree with you Damien. On one of my trips to Paris, I was dashing from one attraction to the next all in the subway. By the end of the trip, I felt like I had spent most of my days underground. Next visit I will do a lot more strolling on the streets and I will figure out the bus system so that I can see things as I go to my next attraction.

My wife and I just returned from our 13th trip to Paris. The way we start each day on most our of trips is by visiting a park in the area of the city in which we're planning to spend the first part of the day. For instance, if we're going to the Champs-Élysées we'll first go to Parc Monceau, which is about a 15-20 minute walk from the Arc de Triomphe. We normally bring pastries and find a bench so we can watch Parisians start their day. And as was mentioned, parks in Paris open early so we can relax and enjoy the vibe of the city, then head to the shops and museums once they open. Also, Paris is way bigger than you think it is and it's very easy to get lost. If you do, instead of getting stressed out, just explore the area you're in. It may not be where you planned to be, but some of our best days in Paris were spent wandering areas we didn't intend to go to but were very happy we found.

I agree! Aimless wandering brings unexpected pleasure s, if you have the time for it. I spent 6 weeks wandering ( in chosen cities, villages and on small islands) in Ireland. Best trip ever.

For us too, Saturday morning just after breakfast is our time to enjoy our France visit. We too will be revisiting Paris and other cities in fall of 2023. We are so looking forward to our trip to enjoy many of the treats Frenchies have taught us how to find. Thank you for our Saturday morning treat and maybe we even catch a glimpse or a cafe visit with you in September.

I’ve been to Paris a few times on low tourist season late October to early November no lines anywhere plus there’s so many non touristy museums and interesting places to visit for free. The whole city IS a gorgeous & fascinating museum!!!

When I visit Paris I like to plan one main attraction per day. This lowers the expectations, allows me to see a major attraction, and then most of the time there is bonus time left over to add in some extras that I didn't put on the list. It's relaxing and enjoyable this way. This is just a psychological trick to take the pressure off of having to schedule multiple things in one day.

Really depends what counts as a major attraction tho. If Eiffel Tower counts, I'd say you're missing out. The Eiffel Tower only takes an hour or two, depending on queue. Something like Versailles or La Nouvre however, is definitely a whole day trip.

Some great tips here - we just returned from our trip and a couple of tips that I would elaborate on. Transit times can be estimated fairly well using Google maps for public transit. I think it's possible to plan up to 2 major sights per day if you do one first thing in the morning and another mid to late afternoon. The excess free time is really key to be able to stop at random places to see things or grab a snack. Also, meal times at restaurants can be quite long, 2 hours+ in some cases. For reference, we walked about 25k steps per day and we still did a lot of breaks. Hope everyone has a great time and watch the rest of Les Frenchies channels - I found their recommendations to be on the money and a great starting point for your planning, both for sights and food!

Three very important tips: 1. Say Bonjour every time you enter a restaurant or any store in Paris. They appreciate the courtesy. 2. Say "Parles vous anglais" before starting to talk in english. Very important to show respect for their language. 3. No need to tip. Don't feel guilty for not tipping.😊

An alternative to the Eiffel tower to view the city from very height, go to the Montparnasse tower. Less crowded, cheaper, same view. No need to purchase a tlmed ticket. 😊

@@fbomb7184 I visited Montparnasse Tower last March, there is an elevator to the top (70 floors) which is the fastest elevator on Europe, according to them. From the 70th floor, you can take stairs to the open terrace. I did not count the steps but it is no more than 5 flights. Maybe you are confusing this building to with the Arch of Triumph, which there is no elevator. 😄

I have a Louvre tip for you, just in case you’d like to avoid the crowdy “head intrance “ use the intrance on the rue Rivoli (The large rue just behind the Louvre) You can also reach this intrance with the underground (metro) stop Louvre/rue Rivoli.

We just got back from 14 days in France. I saw just about every video you made and they were spot on for accuracy. We did three days in Paris followed up with a river cruise to Le Havre and a bus ride to Saint Malo, D-Day Beaches, and Mt. Saint Michel. Taking everything you said, made things much easier. Pounding the streets of Paris ended up with over 10,00 steps per day and not seeing everything we planned on but loving everything we saw. We took the evening cruise on the Le Calife and it was magical with the Eiffel all aglitter. A "bon jour" here and a "merci" there went a long way to crossing the cultural gap. I knew there would be so much history, but I was surprised at the amount of beauty in each city, castle, and journey between cities (much better than a ride on I-95 in Palm Beach County)! Thanks for the info and the help.

We went to Rome with a wheelchair. We had a guide and driver who spoke English and a wheelchair van. Unfortunately they went out of business during Covid. There is another company with an owner that uses a wheelchair himself. He does tours all over Europe. It Is Sage Travels. John Sage. We stayed at Hotel Ponte Sisto. We are going to London in June 2024. Premier Inn is wheelchair accessible. So is the London Eye. The Tower of London has limited wheelchair access but you get a discount. The London buses are wheelchair accessible. We are taking a daytrip to Paris. Eurostar from London to Paris can accommodate wheelchairs. G7 taxi can also. The Eiffel Tower has an elevator/lift.

I'm not handicapped but would offer that most European cities are a bit challenging for even those considered as "able bodied" simply because many still have cobblestone streets, sidewalks are narrow and stairs out number the elevators 😂 Do not let this discourage you from going though! If your travel partner is willing to assist then book a trip ❤

Bonjour! My wife Kelley & I (Michael) are so grateful to have found your channel. Antoine & Colleen, you’re both so kind & thoughtful that we always feel like we’re there with you. Superb content! This video is so essential to us because we’re sitting down this weekend to talk about our Paris itinerary. And it’s vital because the 2020 quarantine ruined our 10 year anniversary - now we’re on our way! Our visit consists of London, Colmar, Strausbourg, & finally, Paris. But it’s the latter that has our excitement & concerns peaked because it’s only 2 days. With 4 kids being left at home, this was all the time we could spare. So, knowing how to spend our lovely time in this great city means everything to us. Romance & Adventure is the goal, but without sacrificing the former. ❤ We’re buying your travel guide today because we trust you, adore your relationship, and are delighted to have a vacation to remember. Thank you so much for reading. Cheers! 🥂

That part about # of steps made me laugh because after my week in the city, eating all kinds of sweet pastries and rich foods, I still managed to lose a few pounds just from walking so much. My tip is definitely to have a dinner reservation booked for every night, but keep your mornings and afternoons open. It's much easier to walk in to a place for breakfast or lunch than it is to get a good table for dinner unplanned. Every day I had 1 major attraction and a dinner table booked somewhere, and I filled the rest of the time on a whim.

Am here now in Paris. It’s lovely weather. Yes, you’re right, have walked about 20,000 steps each day. The best activity so far is the Batobus Hop-on Hop-off Seine cruise. I decided on the 24 hour ticket (also 48 hour). Did a whole circuit that stops at major attractions. Then return to chosen attraction, Le Louvre, Place de la Concorde, Eiffel Tower, Musee D’Orsay, Notre Dame, Jardin des Plantes, Hotel de Ville. Excellent suggestions, thx.

I am here now and enjoying many things that you have recommended. Less is more for sure. Rain can also slow you down.

Bonjour Les Frenchies. What a great video. Everything you said is absolutely accurate 😊. Especially overestimating your own fitness levels or the 15k to 20k steps per day. And thanks for pointing out the challenges one has to face attempting to see the highlights. Please remind your fans about the benefits of using the fabulous Paris bus system. And it’s never big a deal or embarrassment to summon an Uber for a ride to your lodging at the day’s end. Be well. Josef.

When I went toParis I had no problem adjusting to the time difference. I had been running. Since I was fit I had no problem walking around the city. I had been to NY 6 weeks earlier and you can a lot of walking in NY.

Bonjour Antoine and Colleen. Great information. We came to Paris as an extension of a Rhine river cruise. We went the minimalist route. One day at Versailles. One evening at Montmartre. A week is not enough time to see all we wanted to see. We were there for only 3 days. Nous reviendrons!🙏😀

This was a very helpful one. One museum we enjoyed a lot was the Branley, hope I got the name right, and the other which is far more known, the Pompidou. I saw my favorite art exhibit at the Pompidou in June, 2022. So many amazing museums, big and small, if that is an interest.

I would also love an episode on music venues, again, big to small, and different styles of music too.
