This is crazy… they’ve been doing an air show above my house for years it’s lovely to watch and thankfully nothing has happened but now I’m a little weary..

Many US experts on KM-1M ejection seat I can see here. The father of my friend has actually ejected from MiG-23, he survived and he has NO spinal traumas.

Both pilots are surely suffering spinal compression, hopefully will recover completely. That ejection process is brutal. Yes, no airshows over populated areas are needed- we see this situation too many times. Crashed into an apartment complex, seriously - how is this even type of display even being approved these days, we've seen this all before haven't we?

Aerobatic demonstrations should only be permitted over shorelines or deserts, never over a populated area. When a plane goes down, there should be a wide safe bailout zone at one side of the flight line.

Amazing no one was hurt. Glad the only casualty was some cars in the parking lot.

At first I was wondering why he ejected so high rather than sticking with the plane to make sure it went somewhere safe, then one of the chutes opens well below the plane. Any lower, and they wouldn't have made it, there was barely enough space as it was.

This guy is a retired lieutenant commander as a combat pilot for the US Navy. He is a seasoned pilot, and he also flies full-time for a commercial airline. I know him personally. If the decision was made to eject, then that decision was made consciously. He would not have left his plane had it not been the absolute last resort. Thank God no one was injured. Including the pilot and the pilot observer.

The pilot was trying to troubleshoot the jet and co pilot pulled the ejection with no regard to where the plane would hit. Extremely lucky.

Wow, apparently the forward pilot wasn't ready to eject, but the rear guy was like we're out of here and pulled the handle. Probably saved both of them. But could have ended poorly on the ground.

Seen a short of the pilot perparing 2 months before the actual plane crash, plane was exact same and everything.

The pilot didn’t even pull the ejection yet he was trying to find a place that would be safe for the plane to crash. The copilot made an “executive” decision to pull the ejection handle before the pilot said so and it ejected both of them. Thats why it crashed so close to the apartments. Had it crashed into the apartments it would’ve been all on the copilot morally but the fallback would’ve come back to the pilot.

ejecting can ofter fracture the spine. Tho this isnt a huge deal your not allowed to fly fighter jets after so lets hope they are bother fracture free

I acctualy just saw a plane stall mid air (A small prop,) it started to bank, and then it stalled. Just a few minutes later,me and my friend heard a plane start up and heard a "POP, POP" right after and staled, then nothing else. I hope everyone is ok, i will keep updating this comment on anything else.

No people were killed but hopefully no animals were either, they never mention that.

For ships there is this rule, something like: "The captain leaves the ship last". And this is for people doing their regular jobs. So I suggest a similar rule for airplanes especially if it's about entertaining some and endangering others. "Do not eject as long as you play with the lives of others". Just a thought.

Incredibly? No. They ejected from a low speed, low altitude, stable aircraft. It wasnt "incredible" it was routine. And went just how it should

Airshows should be banned near populated areas! The pilots punch out and the jet crashes near an apartment complex. Fortunately, in this case, no fatalities but it could have been much worse if the jet crashed into the apartments!

The mig-23 is a nightmare to maintain, lots of engine failures, very troubled aircraft, the Russians tried to sell them to their allies, most of them said, no thank you.

GD sure wouldn’t want them as my wingmen Their superiors should be reduced in rank if military action isn’t taken against these two pilots. Armed force pilots number 1 reason for being put on this earth is to protect us. Armed Force Airshows are for advertisement purposes.Hopefully to inspire other talented individuals to become pilots or the branches to keep them in the air,which is as important. These two pilots ejected from a still flying, Upright airplane and did not care about the direction of or crash site of the airplane. Absolutely apprehensible. !!!!! Why wasn’t the aircraft directed in a no population or at least scarce population area ? These two pilots didn’t care if the aircraft went into a school house or apartment. Look at another military aircraft crash here on KZfaq. One which two pilots flying the baddest plane on the planet didn’t punch out until a wing hit the ground !!! That’s the ones I want watching my back !!! I will recant this for one reason.If the two pilots lost all directional control to bo fault of their own. This does not include flying an airplane they we’re not familiar with enough and did not understand they dynamics of this foreign built airplane. Being an idiot is no excuse for the law, correct ?

These Air Shows shouldn't be near corperated areas so as not to danger communities on the ground. Why this show is near apartment homes as opposed to an isolated air field is beyond belief.

I would sue the aviation event organisation if i,ve lived in that condo area the plane crashed....thats insane...it could have killed a lot of people...imagine how tragic and ironic that would be...waw
