This tutorial is dedicated to Frankie C for asking how to create strobe lights for rides and how to make lights turn on then off on a dark ride. Hope you all find it helpful and make some awesome triggered strobe events!

Im doing a Haunted Mansion type ride and wanted to have a outside scene during the queue that had Lightning. And while this doesn't help me. It did give me an Idea to take the same concept but using multiple lights like your triggers played on a loop timed seperate. Will post with an update once I Do It

I’m doing something similar, but simulating lightening flashes from inside a building. I followed the video, but the lights never turn on at any point. What am I doing wrong?
@samotionstudios58825 жыл бұрын
Because you only have 50 triggers per ride, you can do it a little easier. Using the event light, play for X seconds, play every 0.2 seconds for a duration of .1 seconds gives you a continuous flashing light! Hope this helps! -S

This was posted in April of 2017. I don’t remember that being an option back then. But thanks for the update none the less. 😊

Could you tell me: I want to add a watersplash in one of my coasters, but on a certain point the water needs to stop spraying. But these objects are always on... How can I trigger the waterspalsh object, to stop for a certain amount of time?.... Thanks (in advance!)
@AssortedPlay6 жыл бұрын
Iemand Anders it sounds like you haven’t yet added them as triggered events to your ride. This is accomplished through the ride settings, not the object itself.

How would I make a pulsating light like in a dance club? That’s what I’m trying to do for a building for a go-kart station.
@AssortedPlay2 жыл бұрын
Similar method but you would need to add the light you want to a trigger sequence on the go kart track. I think others have figured out different ways to do this since I posted this video. You may want to skim the comments below or do another search on KZfaq for more help. (See @samotion studios comment below as an example

Yes I’m fully aware. In case you missed it this post was made almost two years ago. It was relevant for its time.

Ryan has a good point because you can only have 50 triggers so your very limited on how far you can have a strobe if you use individual triggers for each flash. Using the time delay you can have a much longer strobe only using 1 trigger.
@AssortedPlay7 жыл бұрын
This is true if you want a way to save ride triggers but you would still have to assign that trigger to multiple lights in the same position. Don't think it's really a "time saver" per say. Additionally, if all the lights are stacked in the same position it makes it difficult to select the new one each time. This to me sounds like it would take more time. Appreciate the feedback but I still think I prefer the method in my video.

Sim Park Observer actually you can activate the same light multiple times with one trigger. If your doing it on a roller coaster then you will have to have multiple lights. I placed multiple lights and had each one flash 5 times at .1 sec delay time. I recommend to change the name of each light to a number and number them in sequence so you can distinguish which light it which in the object trigger list. You might also have to either adjust the timing to correspond to the speed the cars are traveling or you can add extra triggers to start another set of lights. When I did it my cars would outrun my lights after about 80 feet so I added another trigger instead of trying to fight with the delay time. It is time consuming but it works.

Can you provide a step-by-step of how to make one light flash more than once? I would love to know how to do that!
@mikewiththebluecar7 жыл бұрын
Sim Park Observer place a trigger on the track then place 3 lights. Set the time on each light for .1 sec. Name the first light 1, the second light 2, and the third light 3. Open edit triggers and add light 1 five times. Then add light 2 five times then add light 3 five times. Now in edit triggers add the delay times on light 1 starting with 0 sec then .1 sec then .2 sec then .3 sec then .4 sec. Then add the times on light 2 starting with .5 then .6 then .7 and so on. Let me know if you need a better explanation this is a quick version because I'm at work.
@AssortedPlay7 жыл бұрын
Ahhhhh, I think I get it now. I wasn't catching that you can actually trigger an object multiple times with one triggered event. Well, guess that works too! Appreciate the explanation!
@ryansadler40327 жыл бұрын
The faster way is to assign the same object to the same trigger, set the delay to .2 seconds, add a trigger, .4 seconds, and so on

Sorry, haven't played in a while and not sure how the new effects work. May have something to do with the display sequencer that was added during the summer update but not 100% sure.

This video triggered me. ;) But on a more serious note, these days you could probably do this more easily with a display sequencer.

The biggest change I've seen is that the "play for" time has been removed from the object window itself and is now controlled directly through the trigger sequence on the ride or trigger console (depending on what you're using the trigger for). Do you agree or did you notice something more?
