Pretty sure that's the normal starting point. It looks unusual because you're in the area that gets flooded when you raise water levels.

this game just screams "subnautica but no water instead of all water" you are on an alien planet, you start in a pod, you have to keep an eye on health, thirst and 02 and you gather mats to improve your gear and living conditions on the planet, the one thing that's verry diffrent is the lack of external dangers like the leviathans. I wrote this comment 10 minutes in, so if i say something incorrect, that'd be why xD

What I find in this game is that until you unlock the high tier mining drills, you are constantly running out of one particular resource. Sometimes its silicon, most of the time its iron, and sometimes its cobalt. If you play Multiplayer, you'll be constantly out of ice and food for much of the early game. One way to play is to build a base at one location, place down some stuff for terraforming, and then move on and build a new base. Eventually in the end game when you have teleporters, you'll be moving in between your bases quite often, if only just to move between bases that have mining drills next to them for special resources. Or, as some people will do, is to have different bases dedicated to different tasks. I've seen people make a base that only produces power, or oxygen, or heat, etc.

Last time I looked Teleporters Unlocked wasn't useful on its own, as you need the Super Alloy Rod (unlocks at 750 MTi) and 276*0.8 power each (if you want everything else to keep running; you can teleport without power). The Microchip - T2 Deconstruction is a late-game unlock, but you don't need it early anyway. There's actually a QoL update so you don't need to remove gear to upgrade it any more. Early meteors only drop basic ores. Iridium and Uranium meteors need to be specifically "summoned". Other meteors drop rarer resources late game. I don't think you remembered to craft the T3 Oxygen Tank.

_"losing progress"_ directly is impossible, but there are game settings that make you drop half your inventory or the entire inventory to some "death chest" when and where you die, possibly causing you to have a long path to recovery (eg when you need to get some rarer resources again that you need to get those resources in some alternate way, but the death chest or yourself are too distant to easily reach it or your base), and even one setting that deletes the entire savegame (for a "permadeath")

I finally picked it up yesterday because of your videos and I am hooked. Combining Survival crafting with incremental automatic progression without having to deal with spaghetti mess of conveyers etc, sooooooooo good!

Don't use Death as Teleportation. Particularly if you're 'leapfrogging' by putting down a 321 Shelter, breathe, deconstruct shelter and continue onward. You always wake up in the shelter you were in last, and if you deconstructed that... More important when you die of lack of food or water, but still... Deconstructor T2 chip is a 'found' design. You don't NEED it as the only difference between it and the T1 is that the T2 can retrieve Circuitboards from Technical Debris. Circuitboards is a late stage unlock, so you will get access to them anyway. Collecting Resources. In the start; grab exactly what I need. Then it enters to 'Grab what I find that I'm out of when I need something for construction' Uranium and Iridium only drops after sending up specific Rockets. Later you will get SuperAlloy, Osmium, and Quartz meteorites also. There was a 'meteorite' that dropped Blue Chests also, but I think they removed that one... You don't need to unequip anything to upgrade it any more. That was changed in v0.9.

I've loved this game since the alpha days. Makes for amazing viewing content. As far as efficiency goes, I would argue in favor of making sweeps to empty whole sections empty of resources. Because that way, if you need something, you can say, "Well, I know it's not in that direction, because nothing is in that direction." At least, until the meteors start falling.

If you are going to play this mutiplayer with friends doing a solo run to refresh knowledge and to see any differences form last played is a wonderful idea.

I had never played the Game before and i had not watched the video yet, and i built my main base about 5 meters from where yours was. I set it right in front of the wreck.

I would love if you played more of this, I know your schedule isn’t as easy anymore but I think it’d be nice to see you reach a blue sky. I don’t think people would mind if the videos took a bit longer in between? Life happens, we all know that!

natural meteor storms (ones not summoned by rockets) drop natural resources; rockets bring down uranium and iridium, depending on which rockets you send up (once you have the launcher platform).

Going off what you said. The need for Silicon outstrips it's production/gather rate. So "rare" would still be applicable.

Certain meteors come at certain terraformation stage iridium and uranium is from rockets 😊

57:36 - that _"something still inside"_ are not items in the chest, but the chest in the room. you can only deconstruct items in your current room, and without the chest you might accidentally have deconstructed the neighboring room :-) this is especially dangerous if your inventory is full so that the resources from deconstructing rooms, ladders, etc (that would allow building it again) then drop down (possibly even through the floor) where you no longer can reach them ... "cheaty fix": press F4 a few times to lift yourself 1m each time, including "teleport" through ceilings etc.

Had this Game on my Wishlist for ages after seeing it here some time ago. Immidiately got it after it went 1.0 yesterday (i don't touch early access titles). Played about 5 hours so far, and it absolutely is Subnautica without water. Loving it. Another Sale for the Wanderbot.

I know you play a lot of games, so it's not surprising that you've forgotten many details on how The Planet Crafter works. I laughed for a while when you couldn't find the elusive Deconstruction Chip that they cleverly hid in the starting crafting machine. Also, the specific resource asteroids are the ones you trigger from the rocket platform. I'm sure you'll figure it out soon. I've been having a blast with the new release. I'm a little overwhelmed with all the new content and altered landscapes.

If the gravity was low enough for you to moon walk the planet would have trouble holding an atmosphere making it impossible to terraform.
