For today's video I did a few random repots and I extended an overview due moss pole that was in my cabinet. I also did a propagation as well as making more of all of my soil mixes.

I love stratum . Everytime I notice my plant not doing good I transfer to stratum right away and they will survive. All your plants are beautiful and healthy. I love watching you vedio.❤

Such an honest thought Melissa and one I can relate to: "I have so much to do but I can't think of anything to do"....a real brain stump moment that I know all too well esp with my Covid induced foggy brain (again!). Despite that you managed to motivate me into action to transfer some of my philos to my new clear moss poles (similar to your Thiccly ones but with a honeycomb design at the front). So get ready Florida Ghost, Pink & White Princesses, Brandtianum and Silver Sword. You're gonna get the Melissa treatment cos you need to size up now that we're in the growing season 👏🏼💪😹 As for your peace lily plantinum, yes it can flower. It looks gorgeous even now! I've found with mine that the more light they get ( esp morning sun) the more likely they'll flower. But I also have been using GT FLOWER FOCUS (which I use for ALL my flowering plants) and since doing that I have had blooms. You make repotting look super duper easy🫶👌🏼

Those plants on poles behind you are💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚!!!!! I enjoy your planty videos. Just wondering if you would ever extend your content to some outdoor gardening? You might love it. It’s so rewarding seeing the landscape transforming and with the help of Mother Nature it’s just wonderful. But regardless I love your houseplant content very much. You definitely are a good plant mom! And cat mom!☺️

Thank you so much! I definitely want to do some garden beds in the future but I know nothing about gardening so I would need to do lots of research! With my focus being geared towards a plant shop right now I am not sure when I would try to focus time to do that. If not next year then probably the year after!

I love peace lilies. I imagine it will bloom. They bloom when they are happy. These plants are divas. They don’t like to be dry.

Platinum Peace lily has the same white flower as the standard peace lily. I have one of my own. It has bloomed 1 time in the spring so far.

I've been watching you for a while I love your content! I don't know if someone already told you but, recently I was looking for "orchid mix" alternative and found fir bark from the pet store works pretty well! It's what I would say "medium" chunky you should check it out! It usually for reptiles but you can use it for your plants too and comes in a big bag much love from Florida ♥

Heyyy!! Wanted to rec. a bag sooo (trust me I know we are scarred hahah) but i promise it’s a true soil less soil/ it’s called Mollys and it’s soooo good! I always make my own , however it’s nice to have a bag on hand when I decide to report at midnight and the littles are sleeping lol! 💕💕🫶🏼

I've seen it before and looked at the ingredients and still prefer to just make my own. it seems pricey for the amount you get too. Sols ruined me from trying any pre-made mixes ever again.

That zebra plant i had one before and also the green one. They are pretty plants but so thirsty. They like there soil kept moist. There leaves droop drastically when thirsty. I had to get rid of them as kept attracting fungus gnats. I feel with thirsty plant’s probably do well with pon or no drainage. I don’t really care if they bloom there flowers i buy for there leaves.

Hi Melissa. I love your videos. Shall I put my Monstera TC on a moss pole or not? And do you have a tip to convince my parents to get a groew light, because my parents are against it because of the electricity? I don’t know what to do 😢

Hi, Thai's don't need a moss pole to root into it with how they grow but you can add one for support if you want to. One grow bulb won't increase electricity that much :)

I’m case I missed it where did you get this bag of perlite? I need this. 🙌 Ok I seen it in your Amazon but I can’t find it when I search for it on Amazon. Maybe they will have it back soon. Yes, I do :) I have growing conditions for them year round. Sometimes I try not to bother plants as much in the off season but if they need to be repotted then I will :)

How do you choose when to use stratum vs moss to prop? I’ve been using 50%stratum perlite for tissue cultures and they are thriving! But I’m fixing to receive some albo cuttings and am debating which method to use and am leaning towards the moss+petite.

Thank you! I try to keep the soil from going too dry. It loves water! Once the leaves start to droop them I waited too late haha but I probably water it once a week in my space!

No it's not related to it. I've only used the gt maybe 4 times now and not on all plants and it's at a very diluted dose. That top leaf is like inches away from 2 barrina T8's in my cabinet so super strong light.

Just a question that I had no idea where to ask. But I got a Thai constellation rehab plant. And it has fuzzy aerial roots. Is that something normal? I was just excited since it was only $10 but it’s been my dream plant

I’m curious, when you grow things in stratum, do you water to the top, or just at the bottom inch and let the water wick up.

I fill it up to the top because they dry quickly in my plant room. As long as it doesn't get too dry which happens sometimes. I'm not particular with the amount of water!

Hej Melissa I have a peace Lilli for 4 years and it did not bloom for 3 yeas. I gave it a self watering pot and it began to bloom again. It love its strong indirect light from my grow-light. Have you tried to mix Perlite with the broken down fluval stratum? Fan of your channel. Take good care of yourself and yours. From Denmark.

They all bloom the same flower they do like water they do droop when they want water but do recover but they won’t flower if they don’t get water on a regular basis I have 3 different varieties

Not yet :) I did a little story sale in insta for some plants but trying to work on a website. It's just taking me awhile since I am doing it myself and there's a lot that goes into that so it's a slow progress. I am going to try better manage my time so I can have more dedicated website days!

Hey Melissa! Do you think your diy mixes end up being more economical than premade mixes? Just curious. I used some Fox Farm to mix with some Special Orchid Mix from Better Grow for a ‘regular’ mix but it still seems to retain too much water and my begonias suffered. Maybe that’s a learning curve for me.

I think it depends on what you buy. Perlite is fairly inexpensive and I will usually buy the miracle gro brand to mix in it. Orchid bark can be expensive by itself but depends on the brand. The soil staying too moist could be the pot size itself, how much light the plant is receiving and how aerated you make it so there's many factors to it. I definitely make mine more chunky and like to buy everything separately but it's what I prefer :)

Totally random but are you going to continue to filter your water and add stress coat? I just got my stress coat yesterday and was filtering some water and my daughter asked why I need to do both...

Yeah I wondered that to but figured I might a well use it. I wasn't filtering it for too long before I started using it so I am not sure if it has done anything or not. You probably don't need both :)

Does your house have a basement? It would be cool to see you try out a grow tent set up, and I know lots of people put them in their basements so that they’re more out of the way and not in your main space! Super excited to see you start your website 🩷🩷
