Had plantar fasciitis over 15 years ago. My PT used Ultrasound, extreme stretch and actually found a pressure point that released the entire area. Not certain what or why, but he built me a custom orthotic that had a nodule which pushed the pressure point and over time seems to have “cured” my plantar fasciitis! I’m 62 and have zero problems with it now. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was scheduled to go into surgery for plantars fasciitis and l used elastic tennis wrist bands on my feet at night. It was an immediate game changer. Then over the course of approx. 1 1/2 months while taking my morning shower l would stand on tip toes for 5 second repetitions of 25 to 30. While bracing myself with my hands against the shower wall. Also when sitting l would cross my leg over the other and begin to rotate my foot in circular motions left and right to strengthen further and reset the bones in my feet. After 1 1/2 mos. I told my shocked doctor that l no longer needed surgery.

not sure above will work or not but sharing my experience. I suffered from plantar fasciitis for around 3 years. I tried stretching, physio, night sprint and ice for around 2 years without much relief. After that, I tried a steroid injection as advised by a renowned doctor but after 6-month more intense pain returned. One of the doctors advised me to reduce weight and wear a “doctor extra soft slipper”. As I can’t wear slipper to the office, I bought a pair of gel nimbus as advice over the blogs. **And surprisingly, the pain was gone within 10 days of the use of gel nimbus and doctor slippers. **I just made sure to wear either the show or slippers and never walked barefoot. Gel Nimbus 22 was expensive but worth each penny, but not sure about latest nimbus versions.

One thing that has helped me a TON is really thinking about walking with my bad foot pointing forward. It feels really awkward like I'm walking like my toes are aiming way too far to the right but I'm actually pointing it straight instead of how I normally tend to walk with my left (bad) foot aiming outward (left). But I definitely want to find one of these gizmos. Loved the very informative and fun video!

I regularly run on sand at the beach barefoot. There's a few different you can do on sand: a.) wet sand(hard): if you want to simulate longer distance without running longer distance b.) mushy wet sand(soft): if you want to avoid any stress concentration on your feet, impact is spread evenly. You can also focus on "driving your feet straight down" for a more quad workout, or even pull your toes back and "kick the sand forward" to allow the arches to stretch back. c.) dry sand(very soft): if you want to run harder and burn more calories at a slower and shorter distance, not recommended if you have any knee issues.

Been dealing with PF in my right heel since mid-May. Age 56. Never had the issue before, but I do wear inserts for metatarsalgia (mainly for my left foot). The PF never fully goes away, despite following various treatments you guys have mentioned in past videos. Stretchings, massagings, iced water bottle rolling, etc. I normally walk 2-4 miles/day. There was a two week period where I had to completely stop my walks. And a partial compression sock for PF was too uncomfortable. I’ll go for five days of almost healed (pain level 1 or 2) but then it’d flair up again. So far, for several days now, using 1/4” foam heel inserts in my shoes (on top of my metatarsal insoles), plus continued stretches and icing has helped... but not completely. If things don’t improve after another week or two of this, I think I may have to get some sort of (comfortable) foot splint that you mention here. Thanks for your video (all of your videos, actually)! 👍🏻 My PCP recommended you guys when I was dealing with a left hip flexor issue last summer after attempting yoga again after not doing it for 20 years. 😆ouch!😆

The sock brace actually numbed my "big toe" - the plastic piece on top of the sock was painful when pulling the foot into close to 90 degrees over a short amount of time. A big NO from me!

What I discovered trying to find one of these socks through a medical supply store is that apparently manufacturers do not believe women, especially petite ones, get plantar fasciitis. The only ones I could find were for children or men. They were too small or too long for my calf and cut the blood circulation off behind my knee. So what is the issue with manufacturers?

I wear a night splint every night. It does help a lot, it really does! But, unfortunately, pain comes back during the day when I have to walk…, I was thinking maybe if I would stay in bed with that splint on my foot for a month, then maybe I would cure my PF… 🤔🤔🤔

Well I have had plantar fasciitis in just my right foot for almost a year now. I was given a night splint but didn’t wear it long since it was uncomfortable. Well after watching this I will try wearing it again. I plan on sticking with it for 4 weeks. Hopefully I will have success.

I have PF in both feet, have had for a few decades. Took me a very long time to figure out what was going on, until then I tried all kinds of socks, shoes, and inserts. I would love to try a sock or splint at night, but I have bad varicose veins and swelling in my legs. It's going to take me a while to find one that will fit me. Recently I had to give up on compression socks because one of my legs is too swollen to put them on.

I just got PF after not having it for 13 years. Last time I had it, it lasted around 3 months. Berkonstak sandals were what I wore around the house and they really felt good. I didn't walk barefoot either. At night when I read you should keep your feet at that angle, I would scooch up to the end of the bed and sleep on my stomach occasionally.

I wear the original crocks a lot even as house shoes. I buy shoes a bit bigger now based on toe box room. Mens versions sometimes will have a bit more width. My boots are by Born but Im not sure of the style. Alegria also has wide toe box.

After watching a few of your videos and hearing about the night splint I tried to find one online that had good reviews about being comfortable. I never could find one that I thought would really work. Being desperate for pain relief I went and found my old Ace bandages. They are about 5 in wide. I started out and wrapped my ankle a few times then wrapped around my foot... Then I took the bandage down around my ankle again and up my heel and over the top of my toes and pulled it back towards my ankle again. This created a ninety-degree angle. A couple of more times around my ankle then back around my heel and over my toes again. Slept with it all night and immediately felt Improvement the next day. I have continued to do this for the past week and have noticeably felt a lot of relief. I can even get up during the night and hobble to the bathroom without a problem. If you cannot find a comfortable night splint try an Ace bandage. Good luck!

I used a night splint and felt a degree of relief the next day. I wore it the next night, and the following morning I woke to incredible pain in the knee above the night splint. Apparently, I had rolled my body one direction, while my foot stayed in the original position, pinned under the sheet and comforter. My ankle couldn't rotate because the tucked in sheet wouldn't let it, pinning it down on the left, even as my body turned to the right. It was an expensive lesson because I had to see my podiatrist ($180, and then an orthopedic surgeon $400 for an ultrasound - and after a cortisone shot in the knee a month later my knee is still painful and damaged.
@valeriejohnson2770

Sorry that happened to you! I hope your knee is better. My PT says she tells everyone to not tuck in their sheets if they have plantar fascitis. From as far back as I can remember have always just slept with a comforter on top of me and my feet sticking out. I hate the way tucked in sheets and blankets squeeze my feet into the pointed position, my feet feel "trapped" under the covers if they are tucked in!

So, with all the conflicting information out there, how am I supposed to know if stretching the foot backwards is better than stretching the foot forwards? Doesn't stretching backwards cause more irritation and tearing of the fascia? Your information is great so I am needing advice.

You want to pick up on the toes. The night splint holds your foot up preventing the muscles and fascia shortening over night. The pain and tingling you feel the first few steps each morning are the shortened fibers ripping as you step on them. It is a terrible cycle that can go on for years. Do your stretches even on days you feel ok to keep it from coming back.

There is no consensus on healing methods for plantar fasciitis ! I’ve been to two podiatrist one says never stretch and the next one says stretch all the time! Neither one worked for me , but I did fine that small amounts of stretching and walking on various size wooden dowels helped but you can’t overdo it so I believe what is happening is you’re creating a healing response by micro tearing but don’t overdo it ! Then it seems like it Has to heal to that point again and again and again and again so depending on the severity? I ruptured mine by deep sand running hard! So I believe all the approaches are good in small amounts! I also found that small amounts of barefoot walking on hard concrete help going back-and-forth between custom orthotics and a regular shoe ,also seem to work. And excessive massaging can make things worse! And shoes that are very soft is terrible for the healing process because there’s no firm foundation ! Merrell hiking shoes or boots seem to be a great compromise ,heal support and arch and protection.

Wearing an AFO as a night splint now after recently being given a new carbon Fibre afo that has on orthotic that sits on the foot: much too hard for my now painful PF same foot..I have found using clove oil/carrier oil as a pain relief in the morning to be extremely helpful when applied after massage/stretch. Doesn't last hours but absolutely gives pain free walk to the bathroom...wondering if my old AFO doesn't give enough toe height?
