I've watched a bunch of your videos and plan to watch much more, I have enjoyed your work a lot. With this lighting series I've learned what questions I need to ask in order to figure out the lighting setup I want for my tank set up. You give great information. I've been doing high tech for a while now so I know must all of this stuff. But I just love watching your videos because your editing is very good, give great (correct) information. I can't wait for the Co2 series! A lot of people don't know what a pH drop actually represents! Keep working hard!

Hey there, thanks for the whole 8 episodes. I've watched this trying to understand the tank balance for my Iwagumi style tank, with light plant load but with Monte Carlo carpeting plants.. I'm having hair algae issues. Should I start to fix it by lowering light intensity or is it a co2 problem, do you think? I use a diffuser and the drop checker shows green, so I think it's sufficient, but you did mention in another episode that you had hair algae do to co2 diffusion issues, would love to hear more of that.

Start with light first. That's usually the problem. My problem with Co2 was that it wasn't putting enough in the tank because the diffuser wasn't working right.

Hi. Thanks for the series. Really enjoyed watching it. I have a Juwel Trigon 350 tank. That is about 90 gallons. Do you know if the Juwel Helialux Spectrum light are any good. They are pricey but will obviously fit my tank as it is made for it. The current T5 unit has failed after about 15 years so looking at replacing it with LED.

Thank you for making these serries. So informative for me. I plan to get a new high tech light. Finnex planted + 24/7 vs Twinstar E series. Which one do you prefer? Please help, this questions me about a week. And I can not come to decision. Thank you

Twinstar is nice. They both work about the same so it's all about what you want to spend and what you like over the other in I guess features. I usually stick with the finnex cost wise.

Great videos....Here is something I'm not sure about still....I just bought a Fluval Aquasky LED. I was told it will grow low light plants (anubius/java fern). My question is how intense should I turn this LED light up to? 100%?? Since this is NOT the "Aquasky Plant" LED what would you recommend?

It's the normal aquasky? Hmmm... I'd start maybe at 70% and adjust from there. I don't know much about the normal aquasky.

Hey, I have a 20 long and am interested in growing a nice carpet of Monte Carlo of Dwarf baby tears. Do you think the Finnex ray2 would do well on this 12” tall tank?

If asking about brands, I always recommend either finnex or Fluval fresh and planted.

@@TheWaterBox It's a common thing for youtube creators; they say something like, "follow this link here", then they point to a place on the screen that's supposed to have a link to something edited in after they film the video, but they forget to add it.

85 CRI? 3200 Lumens and 30 Watts. For $20. My first LED to help the window and grolux fluorescents. Bright enough for what I paid..color rendition is ok. I wouldn't light my tank's fish on 5000k alone. But,blended in its decent budget light. I'm sure the plants are happy. As all the test seem to show..bright light is always better then less and more accurate light. Although,I wouldn't say I am in that boat. El Cheapo lights are for morning and then off until evening. If this cheapo light goes out then I might try some made for aquarium LEDs that I now see are out there. Hey,Whats your name? I never caught it!

Low or high tech tank require completely different lighting. You are misinforming people by staying that its actually high or low budget. While I agree one dozen cost more money then the other, but it is a matter of high tech VS low tech.
