*PUT WINTER “BLANKETS” AROUND YOUR FIGS YA’LL!!* 1st year they died all the way back down to the ground. Last year I piled a THICK layer of straw around them…. They survived winter!! They’re sooo happy this year! 🥳🙌 There was about 4” of one branch sticking up out of the straw and that branch died. So cover them completely and they will thank you in the Spring! Amazing work you guys! ❤️❤️❤️

Fresh figs are delicious. Sweet and very satisfying. My previous home in Southern California, almost fifty-six years, we had sixty-two organic dwarf and semi-dwarf fruit trees. The figs were full size trees though. We planted early, mid, and late season trees. Zone 9. We also had a ten thousand square foot organic garden and four 8 X 4 garden boxes. In the ground berries, grapes, and herbs as well. We ate from our garden ten to twelve months out of the year. We were truly blessed. Our children had the best in their own yard. I moved to Central Texas six and a half years ago. Totally a different growing season. Also difficult with rocks in the ground, so I need to get creative. Nice to see you two planting a food forest. I hope that you both enjoy your orchard and garden as much as we enjoyed ours. It is truly a blessing to enjoy the fruits of your labor. No pun intended. 😅 God bless and happy gardening.

I love watching this channel so much. You two are an incredible team! I love your food forest, I especially love the fence! Something we did to avoid the deer jumping into our garden was giving them cracked corn apple flavor, I started laying the piles a little farther away from it but now they’re so comfortable that they even walk up to my cow pasture and eat out of their feed buckets WITH my cow, goat and all of my bird flocks. I don’t know if your visitors would be this way but maybe it’s worth a try to keep them from trying to jump the fence once the orchard is a little more mature!

Good morning Gerald and Simone. It is Wednesday morning and I am enjoying the video of you both planting your fruit trees, just watching you both live in your God given Purpose dropped in my spirit that you two are a great example of a True Relationship with God, and if you two don’t mind I will like to use you as example in my first time teaching Wednesday Bible Class which we call The P.O.U.R as a true sign of a Relationship with God. You both heard The Clarion Call and due to your Relationship with God you are now operating obedience. Your obedience is truly an inspiration to so many others, and I will like to chime in on the other two individuals who quoted, “The Best Couple On KZfaq”!. Well back to your video and until next week Love ❤️ you both 🤗🤗🤗🤗

You can plant raspberry bushes and l believe there’s a wild rose bus that has thorns around the fence for any other critters and keeps away deer. Also If you plant peppermint and other mint’s around the perimeter you will deter rats etc.

Just recently having to replant some older 30 year old highbush variety blueberries because I planted them flat in the ground. I learned from Lareault Nursery farming practices that they actually mound it and rototill sphagnum peat moss (acidity over time) in for higher density clay soils. They need the acidity to uptake nutrients apparently, I had a lot of red leaves last year, less red leaves this year from lack of cold and amendments, so far more blueberry blooms as well in the 3rd year. Working on putting drip irrigation line to them as they are very particular with water requirements. Highly recommend checking out the farming practices from that nursery though, they been around 50-60 years in Canada with the largest strawberry symposiums etc. I believe they still research into ecological farming practices. Happy farm steading!
