Those are great drills. I have one just like it. I wish I had yours. It looks clean. Make sure you zero your lever to the flutes. I believe the book even says to go past your setting and come back to remove the slop in flutes. Make sure your not running the slow speed sprocket. That reduces quantities shown on the chart by 50%. If your coming up heavy your probably not. Looks good Ben

If you cut once then plant higher populations, that way stem stays small and don’t grows into trunks. Good ideal to try a small field first

I thought you had your own chopper. Than Id go for the 7-8 foot of height try to catch it before they get tree trunks on the lower stocks that way you get better quality silage an easier chopping. Just my thoughts

I've cut and baled 5-6 foot and 9-10 foot and didn't notice significant difference in stalk size. Around here we usually only get one cutting because of hot dry summer so most people let it grow tall. I cut some that was 2-3 feet taller than the cab on a 1066 and it was like being in a jungle but still made great feed. So my 2 cents is let it grow. Regardless of what you decide never mind the nay sayers and do what you think is best for your operation.

The tires look bigger than the stock tires that will change your rate.

Height doesn't really matter far as the custom cutter is concerned does it? You say the best value money wise. Doesn't he charge by the ton? Or is it hourly rate? Either way if it grows higher then yeah you will pay more but you also get more tonnage so I don't see where that's really an issue. Maybe depending on the summer and the weather, if we keep getting rain then chop it earlier and shorter and save some money and then take a second cutting off and bale it and wrap it. Idk just an idea

Good video. Thanks. I noticed that thriple 19 contains 15 percent chlorine. Do you worry about chloride build up in the field. In our area we have to use potassium sulfate instead of potassium chloride, because if chloride build up

Ben 6 to 8 feet would think at 6 or 8 might get a second cutting but must figure on how much would it take to fill your silo at 9 feet one cut would fill the silo or 6 to 8 feet in the hope to get second cutting to fill it.

Sorghum is hard to find the right rate. You almost need to go with a half speed sprocket to get the rate low enough. What do you try to run for one per acre?

So if it was not working right last year, why didn’t you fix it over the winter?????? That’s a major rookie mistake!!!!

To add to my last comment, they chopped it direct cut with the corn head. The bill was HUGE!
