In the fall of 1981 the Plasmatics were booked to headline the outdoor Dr. Pepper Festival in NYC where this video 'Squirm' was performed. The show where they blew up a car was the grand finale to the festival’s summer long run and explosive it was. The explosion of the car was huge and stage equipment ignited during the explosion can be seen continuing to burn as gas-masked roadies run to put the fires out. The next show following this, promoted by Jack Hoffman, brother of 60s radical Abbie Hoffman was subsequently banned.

7th grade, 1984. In my next door neighbor's room and we were huffing poppers. His mother unlocks the door with her fingernail and shrieks: "TURN THAT FILFTH OFF OR FIND A BRIDGE TO LIVE UNDER!". She then called his dad to tell him that we were listening to a song called "Sex Donkey".

My 14 year old mind was blown away at this show in NYC ‘81. I remember Wendy blew up a car on the stage and I felt the heat from it on my face!! Fun Stuff!!

Saw them in Gainesville FL Halloween 1981 and when the car blew up the shock wave hit me and I went to my knees! I was pretty close to the stage and I thought it was fake dynamite, but damn it really knock me down!

The Plasmatics were firing on all cylinders here. Too bad Jean and Stu were already gone but, damn...they still were a runaway train of sound, power, and heat. GREAT band.

Hammerheads!!! That was the dive bar I saw them at in Tempe AZ back in the early 80's. SE corner of f Rural/University. I've been trying to think of the name of the bar for yrs and it literally popped into my head when this video came on. Awesome!!!

Thank you for posting. I don't like this look, but Wendy apparently did. I had four eps, and an lp. My place flooded, ep survived intact. Three the sleeves were destroyed, but I have the discs. I have replaced "New Hope For The Wretched" (original) haha the eps a very expensive, now. I like photos of Wendy, too 🍒
