There are a lot of things that make our lives easier and this is one of them. This is the hands free that I needed. It’s sturdy very easy to figure out and adjust. The material is great water resistant and easy to clean. My 3 month old got use to us quick. I cook clean walk with her in it. She’s happy to be close to me and I love having her that close.

Getting one for myself, I like this vest as it's smaller and more flexible. A must for an armoured soldier who's always squished in tight spaces.

Picked up this same Tac Tec carrier at my local 5.11 store back in early October and they just happen to have it in Sandstone from a canceled order. Knowing at the time how challenging it is was to order a plate carrier and plates I figured what the heck let me just get it piece by piece starting with this. Glad I did and saw this KZfaq right after as I ended up getting those HSGI magazine taco pouches and they too were in high demand along with steel armor plates.

thank you, very informative. these are on sale at my local 511 for 120 and they are normally sold for 200. i almost got one on the spot because i know plate carriers are extremely hard to find now but hadn't researched their product quality wise. may need to go back and take advantage of the sale.

I use to wear patches until I was training with a buddy of mine and showed me how easy it is to put the red dot on one every time. Cheers from California!

I’ve had a tactec for a couple years now, and I’ve grown out of favor for it. If you’re 6 ft tall or on the bigger side, then it’ll probably fit you well with medium/large plates, but if you’re like a 5’ 10” average build, the plates never line up where they’re supposed to and that has been a bit of an issue, along with it’s weight. It’s a hair heavier than most carriers. With that being said though, it is pretty comfortable, the stitching is solid as hell, and the quick release system is great to have. Only recommended to my bic bois.

Just bought this plate carrier because i got tired of waiting to buy the $685+ safelifedefense vest. Im more of an hard plate wearer so i stay away from soft armor because i value my inner bones.

Esstac Kywi mag carriers, my friend. They are fucking magical. Throw a triple on the carrier and get a battle belt to throw another double or triple on...and to take some gear off the carrier

Every time I go to the 511 store I look at the plate carriers and drool but refuse to pay $209 for a vest without the plates. I was eyeing the black Night camo one as my favorite. I went to the register and asked the guy if they ever go on sale? Turns out two of the patterns are on clearance at the moment and my black night camo pattern was one of them. I got the vest for $129 instead of $209. Now I think each time I go there I’ll buy some accessories for it. Thanks for the great review.

Good setup, surprisingly slick and not too bulky for all the things you have on the front. That's what you want, in case you ever have to hit the floor when bullets starting flying (which is probably a good idea if the situation warrants it). Your setup is almost perfect for civilian PC setup but one critique of your medical gear is that I would recommend adding chest seals and another tourniquet (I recommend two per PC minimum). The biggest problem about your setup is the steel plates. That weight is extremely unfavorable because you want to be as mobile as possible with the most amount of protection you can get. Ceramic plates are 2-2.5x the price but it is completely worth it. Your life is worth more than that extra $200-$300 it costs to get ceramic instead of steel. Ceramic plates are generally at least 50% lighter than steel plates (usually even lighter but the lighter you go the more expensive the plates), they don't have the issue of spalling, and generally offer better protection since you don't have to worry about spalling. Just my .02. When set up my first PC I got steel plates but any time I ever wore it I just wanted to take it off cause it was so heavy. I tried to wear it and move/run around as much as I could with them on to get used to the weight but no matter what it was just too uncomfortable because of the weight. After doing more research, I switched to level iv ceramic plates at 4.6 lbs a plate vs the 12 lbs a plate I was at before with the steel plates. It was like a lightbulb moment when I switched the plates and wore the PC with ceramic plates for the first time. I was way more able to move, there was less restricted movement, my back wasn't strained, and I knew that I could comfortably run/wear it for a longer period of time than when I had steel plates. The new plates were around 9 lbs total, which is less than the weight of just one of my previous steel plates and almost 1/3 of the weight of the two steel plates (24 lbs). It just makes sense to get ceramic. I was also initially sold on steel plates based on the videos I saw on youtube but sadly all the people that recommend steel are either associated with a company that sells steel plates or they don't know that steel plates are inferior (mainly weight) and can potentially be dangerous because of the spalling. There's a reason militaries don't use steel plates. Sorry for the long rant lol
