I could feel the teenage eye-roll with that "mom" (in my head it was "maaahhhummm" 😂😂⠀

Billi and I have been working on specifying requests recently, some days she does amazing - others not so much. But I use those times as opportunitues to reinforce A TON of words, and work on "yes" and "no". It's a fine line between continued learning and frustration though, so being attuned to your pet's body language in addition to their words is super important. I probably stretched this one out a bit farther than she really wanted, but we didn't go over the edge to where she doesn't want to participate anymore out of frustration.
Billi is a female domestic shorthair, she's 12 years old, her favorite word is mad. Inspiration from Hunger4Words (check her out on IG).

Billy has other requests besides the worm, food and ironing. He wanted to try a different food or play a different game with mint or mom. This confirms my suspicion that when she said "hello billy" to the neighbour's cat in a different video, she meant sth like "there's another cat here." She doesn't take "bye" and "hello" as greetings but as statements of place. When you say "hello" you're here, when you say "bye" you're going to dissappear. hello = here bye = gone/away

I love how Billi has to talk a walk before answering, indicating animals think by keeping themselves active and that she's really contemplating what you said and how to respond. (It's also easier for me to form full thoughts when I'm active walking or swinging or driving)

I think she was saying that she'd finished her food and now she wanted to play. I think the Catnip press might have been referring to her 'Catnip Bunny'. The toy that has a cavity for catnip in it.

This one makes the most sense to me! She seems to use "bye" as a "gone" button, so food is gone, wants to play. Maybe she was having some indecision or unsure of how to communicate exactly what she wanted, but I think she was happy to play worm in the end anyway

I think she associates "play", with activities she enjoys (not food). She pushed the catnip button because this stimulates a non-food pleasure response, that is fun for her.

That makes absolutely sense. Because of our huge vocabulary we have the luxus that our words can be very specific. Billi only has a few buttons at his disposal thus he uses them in a broader sense.

She's getting more intelligent, trying to combine the buttons to describe how she's feeling and what she wants. "Bye Food" is probably just her saying she enjoyed her food, and then "Play Catnip" likely means she wants to play and then have some catnip.

I became highly invested in Billie's, Stella's and Bunny's videos. I find it so touching, heartwarming and fascinating. I remember, when I was a little girl I dreamt of a magic device able to allow us to talk with animals. Guess that I live in the timespan where this dream begin to come true.

I like this one. It shows how a "not perfect" (or even frustrating) conversation may look. In all the videos I've seen before, it's looked so easy and perfect. Sometimes even full sentences. Like last night I saw a Bunny video, where bunny said something like "Look mom, I went poop." full English! But it's good to know that sometimes it's not that easy, for either party. I know you were just trying to push her to clarify more, but it's good to see what it might look like when the animal doesn't have the clarification buttons that they may need, or the knowledge of how to use it.

You need several new buttons: "Show" - For "show Mom" what she wants "Cuddles" - For "Billi want cuddles" "Brushes" - (Will help both Billi and you too. You catch it on the brush, it doesn't end up on the carpet.) All common things my cat wanted. Hope Billi (and Mom and Dad too(: ) is doing well!

Billi likes attention from Mom. I think she also likes, as another person mentioned, the refillable catnip toy she can toss and kick. She also seems to be thinking a lot more about what she wants and how to ask for it. She doesn't seem to ask for outside as much, unless Mom goes out.

I wonder if to help bridge the gap between play and attention, to introduce a button to play tag? Some high energy play as some others in the comments were saying might be what she was trying to explain, after having food. As zooming and tag might be what two cats might play together after meal or nap time. Or things like hide and seek, since billi is so smart!

What do you think about silver vine sticks? They're supposed to be similar to catnip and can be bought as sticks or powder.

I tried that with my cats and one of them is completely averse to it. She wrinkles her nose and gets away. She hates it. The other one loves it.
