Watch the Netflix Documentary on the Malice at the Palace. The fans were wrong, and that’s coming from a lifelong Detroit resident and fan. If you wanna be a tough guy and talk a bunch of shit and throw things at the players, or even go onto the floor as some did, be prepared to get your block knocked and have nobody feel bad about it 🤷‍♂️

There were several interesting ABA teams that either did not go on or changed cities. The Miami Floridians had women called "ballgirls" who actually wore bikinis on the court. My kind of team accessory...!

Dave was right about Sherman White. He got the harshest punishments out of all of the players very likely due to his color. Even though he only participated in a couple of fixes (games likely decided already and just covering the spread). He having only joined during his senior season well after the fixes had been going on, they threw the book at him sending him to prison and out of all places Rikers in the 50’s was hell on earth (it’s not too much better now). He even refused to partipates in some fixes and he was threatened by the mobster after he lost a ton of money on the game. Young players thinking they aren’t really hurting anyone and just making some extra money shaving to cover the spread got them into mob activities much larger, dangerous, and massive consequences.

I don’t like how the narrator says Ron Artest started what’s known as The Malice at the Palace. If John Green hadn’t have thrown the drink on Ron, the game would have eventually resumed. Ron was laying on the scorer’s table because he was doing some deep breathing exercises that he learned in anger management classes.

I said well it's just semantics...so whatever word YOU prefer,...was involved in...engaged in...whatever. Then hereis this video saying "Ron was known for INCITING the biggest NBA brawl." To Daz’s point about not understanding why people in positions of merit do abhorrent things; It’s because they are in a position in life where they can pretty much have anything they want and live without much consequence. They do bad things to see how much they can get away with.

Sherman White passed away in 2011. He was apparently a really gifted player. “Sherman would have put us over the top,” the Knicks Hall of Fame guard Dick McGuire told The Record of New Jersey in 1999. “We would have won championships with him. What you see now with Kevin Garnett, Marcus Camby and Lamar Odom, you saw Sherman doing back then. He was well before his time.”
