To put more context on the Javale situation, he was becoming a walking meme because of the show. It was pretty pinpoint how they were starting to target him. No matter how well he played, they would try to get a "JAVAAALE MCGEE" clip in every segment, even if it was just a minor infraction. Javale is currently a 3x NBA champion. A legit baller who can be a key piece on winning teams. But at that point, he was mostly known for Shaqtin. It was messing with his image as a player. He was starting to become known as the clumsy oaf. That kinda image can for sure fuck up your contract negotiations and your livelihood.

What's missing in this whole compilation is the context that shows what a petty bitch Shaq often is and it's only because he's Shaq that people put up with it sometimes. Man constantly takes small stuff too far and doesn't know when to drop it.

@Dayspring You seem to be conflating some things. I didn't call the man an NBA superstar, I called him a key piece on championship winning teams. Especially those two in Golden State. He was the only real center on the roster and more than competent at his position. And considering he has asthma and could barely play 18 minutes a game, his production was more than adequate in proving his contribution to their success. Yes, that roster was hard to beat. But the point is Javale was much more than Shaqtin was giving him credit for and it has unfairly left a lasting impression on people like you to this day.

Agreed. If you're not good at impressions, or aren't clearly being purposefully bad at it for sarcasm, it's best to just use your own voice. Else, it will just come off cringy at best, offensive and insulting at worst. Kind of like how everyone has a shitty Italian mobster voice, but it would be in poor taste to break it out every time you read a tweet from a "Russo" or "Ginovesi."

The “Inside the NBA” producers, one of which is E.J. himself, did not want negative publicity. Certainly not one that was instigated by one of the hosts [Shaq]. Although any player is fair game for Shaqin’ A-Fool criticism, the Twitter banter was petty, childish and not something TNT Network wanted to be associated with. In short, Shaq needed to grow up.

Bill Russell the great Celtics got onto tough times and had to auction off his 11 championship rings. Shaq bought them and gave them back to Bill. Ill always respect Shaq after that as a man. Not just an all time great center.

Who told you that story? Bill russell sold them and other things. Part of the money went to his social justice foundation , he wasn't going through "tough times". I never read anywhere that Shaq won the auction or gave them back

I disagree i think the players today are soft. They can’t hear any criticism without it becoming an issue. Shaq played during the time when nba players were tougher physically and mentally. Today’s nba players ask for a trade after one bad game, they don’t work nearly as hard on average (with exception of a few active players) and basically wanna just coast into a championship.
