As a teenager I worked at a Chocolate themed amusement park. We had a wooden roller coaster called the Comet. We had several Comet machines in the arcade. All of them were worn within an inch of their lives. I don't know anyone that doesn't like this machine. Super fun. Try PC7 two part epoxy on those holes. It works great. Not as fast as your repair, but it will bond anything permanently. You can fill that slot in and redrill the hole. The military uses it. It's made in PA. I have seen PC7 used for some crazy stuff. I was always .. that's never going to work.... and it always did. The list of things the manufacturer states is just crazy. I have used it to fix cracked old steering wheels. It is amazing stuff.

Minor mistake spotted! The red plastic lane divider, you know the one that has only plastic on one side actually goes on the other way so the rubber is on the right side, so on the lane the allows you the ball save with a little bump. Also did you check the flasher bulb in the corkscrew, it was hard to see if it was actually working. I have this machine at home, got it totally trashed and brought it back to life, and actually built my own led displays and display driver board for it. Has been a lot of fun ever since. Cheers Ron, was a nice repair video as usually!

The awesome light show when you hit the Million point shot is sooo cool. Neat thing the programmers added was to flash the comma after 1 million on the display to let people know you got the Million point shot.

That outlane save is very reminiscent of the outlanes in Centaur, which has them on both sides. You can make it easier or harder by changing the size of the post rubber, or moving it slightly.

Boy does this game feel fast. Once the ball gets down to the lower playfield it seems to really move fast and the design of the left lanes will whip the ball right back to left flipper real fast. It looks like fun.

Comet is one of the all time great games! Williams did an incredible job with the sound effects on this game... They're perfect for the game and have some good humor. Overall it is such a great playing game. Most of them you see these days are either beat to hell, or have been restored. They got played a LOT back in the day.

Ron to fix the bad hole . Use a piece of dowel drill a bigger hole but still smaller than the post size. And glue in a piece of dowel then just make a new screw hole in it after all is dry.

Hey Ron, Im not trying to come off like I know better than anyone else, because Ive not actually attempted it myself, but apparently you can polish mylar to take a lot of the clouding out. you can also enlarge the hole to about 1/4 inch. Then drive in a piece of dowel with glue. A little bit of clean up and presto, new wood to put a screw in. Similar to the toothpick trick but for bigger damage.

I've been waiting for this one. I saw it off to the side in the other video. I like the 3 Williams fair games - Comet, Cyclone, and Hurricane. I'd probably lean toward Hurricane but all are fun. Good tip on the light socket tab - I'm guessing you cut power before you bent it back up. I like seeing a few of these where you're just fixing a few things for customers. Nice change of pace from the full restore ones.

One of the coolest game of that era. I think, I've played this at arcade Hall of an amusement park. It has cool feature. When you make that million jump on that bike jump ramp, the first number of your score begins To blink. Williams implemented this feature to some SYS 11 games.

Could you drill the chipped out hole larger and glue in larger dowel in the hole. Then drill for the bumper post.

I have an old 1969 Action pinball game by Chicago Coin Company. One of the holes for the plastic standoffs got a bit rounded out. Instead of doing the toothpick trick, they just drilled a new hole 1/2" to the side so the standoff bumper is outside the plastic cover. (Which totally messes with the gameplay.) I wish they hadn't done that. I can fix it, using the toothpick trick, but now I'll have a small hole in the painted part of the playfield. And if I patch it, I doubt if I can color match the paint.
@louisvillaescusa
@louisvillaescusa 9 ай бұрын
BTW, I learned the toothpick trick while stage managing ice shows. The ice skaters would come off the ice in a panic and yell, "My blade is loose!" So I would run over, pull out the loose screw, put some wood slivers in the hole and replace the screw so that they could finish the show. Worked every time.

I wonder if the artist got any inspiration from Garbage Pail Kids. If this game came out in 1985 that was the same year as the first series of GPK. Or maybe that was just the style at that time. It looks a little like mid-80's Mad Magazine as well
