+KhronX Bleed is easy once you learn to quad pick. Most of us who started out playing Metallica and Pantera and the like want to play the classic triplet followed with a downward stroke, and Bleed is fucking impossible like that. Up down up down. It feels wierd at first but then it becomes natural, flows and Bleed becomes effortless.

If you want to play Meshuggah the way the band itself does, it does take some technical skill. You need to be able to strum, mute and bend the strings with the right amount of force and enough endurance. Bleed is a good example of this.

Yes, that is correct from what I understand. They just tune their basses up so that the bass and guitar are playing in the same octave. It's the difference in the way the 2 instruments handle tone and how they come together that gives them their signature sound.

It's exactly what he said I have the transcript.. from high to low like he says in the vid it's Ab, Eb, Bb, F, Bb. When the guitars are in F he plays his bass on the 2nd bass string. 7 string parts he can play the low Bb to be an octave lower... 8 string parts the bass and guitar are in the same octave.

MrHieronymusBosch You're joking, right? Meshuggah are incredibly innovative - quite the opposite of generic. They essentially crated their own sub-genre of metal, and pioneered how to make ungroovable meters methodically groovable.
@boobymiles7513
@boobymiles7513 9 жыл бұрын
MrHieronymusBosch if you find Meshuggah boring, that's one thing - I used to think that too before I understood what was going on musically, but to call them "generic" is pretty bold. I don't see how such an innovative, influential band can be considered generic when they're 1) Not only the forefathers of a genre, but 2) They're still leading the pack. It's not like they pioneered the genre and just disappeared; they're still evolving and incredibly relevant. And rhythmically speaking, Vildhjarta doesn't hold a candle to Meshuggah.. Vildhjarta is awesome, and they use a lot of syncopation and displacement in their riffs, but there isn't anything too crazy. It's actually pretty straight-forward if you ask me, whereas Meshuggah consistently implements trippy polymeters into their riffs, whilst retaining a groovy/percussive quality.
