Thanks for the warning man but we already know. People will buy what they want even if the prices are high. But let's say you're still on a 10 series or 20 series. Upgrading to at least a 30 series or even a 40 series would be a massive upgrade even at its expensive price point. So, I may get at least a 4070ti if the performance justifies the price. I wish I could recommend people go AMD, but they aren't exactly our saving grace in this gpu hellscape unfortunately, at least not yet. They have problems with their reference cards they need to address but I have faith they will make a comeback. But there is a possibility I may buy an AMD gpu in the future if I decide I want one. Now Intel on the other hand is making some splashes in the budget to midrange gpu market though so that's something to look into. Just food for thought.

And supporting such prices ensures that when the 5000 series rolls around, the 5070Ti will be even more expensive at launch. That depends on what you consider to be reasonable doesn't it? Reasonableness is an entirely subjective thing. What I find reasonable could be entirely different to you. I found the RTX 4090 extremely expensive, but in my use case, where I'm driving an LG CX 4k 120hz TV for gaming, I found the price/performance reasonable, especially considering the competition and the previous generations performance. High end 30 series is nowhere near a smooth and solid 4K 60+ performer, and that is the performance level I wanted. Absurdly expensive, absolutely, and it hurt to buy. But does it perform well? Absolutely, and that performance is worth the cost to me.

​@@BallisticSollution Exactly the same for me. Playing ray traced games or any games at 4k 120 meant there was effectively just one card that does it, the 4090. I get fed up with all the negativity from either haters (who just can't afford it) or social media channels who just like to criticize NVidia. I can't afford a McLaren 765LT but I don't go around slamming McLaren for daring to make a car I can't afford.

This type of thinking is laughable. You still got bent over and settled for less while they did it. You saved $200 and lost anywhere between 40-60% of functionality depending on which metric you use.

Don’t bother. I did and it wasn’t worth it. If you’re running a 1080p screen and don’t care about ray tracing you’ll get just as many fps with a 1080 as the newest cards.

That's not how it works. RTX 4000 series should be cheaper on release than even the RTX 2000 series. The architecture is far more efficient and has better yields. Yet, they just slap on the "but it's 50% better" tax on it, as if anyone would buy a new generation GPU if it wasn't considerably better than the last.

In Australia it went up $1000, the 4090 is a 3090Ti price, and the 4080 doubled over the 3080s price. They're all horrible value, to the point if you're spending enough for a 4070Ti you should just get a 4090

I picked up a 3060 ti on eBay few weeks ago for $270 in excellent almost new condition. He said he used it for crypto mining but nothing hardcore and I stressed tested it with 0 issues.
