I've gotta say, The Office is the only sitcom that really made me evaluate my life. I saw a lot of myself in Pam. I'm the prankster, but I'm also the insecure one. She only gets Jim when she tells him how she really feels about him and starts being honest with not only others, but herself. Her relationship with Roy may have at one point been a good one, but by the time the show actually begins, Pam has been engaged for 3 years. It's devolved into something that's toxic to Pam's growth and well-being. She used to be a passive character on her own story, but over the series she transforms into a more active character in that story. She does the coal walk because SHE wants to. She tells Jim how she feels without worrying about what others will think of her. She tells Jim her fear of not being enough for him even though she's afraid. And ultimately, she's happier because of it. I think we all have to find our Jim/Pam. The person who can't comprehend why someone wouldn't call a dork like us back. The person who, no matter what we do, will be there for us and support our dreams.
