Mere Captains/military, do not conduct diplomacy, they conduct force projection, or outright force. Admirals can be used as diplomatic proxy, not Captains.

So the humans were asked to help in this war. They had no stake in it, were not attacked prior. So why is it the Capitan had to be pulled in and stopped from genocide? Only stake humans had in this war was aiding an ally. Seems this Capitan needed a talking to from superiors. Did not make a lot of since.

This is a narrative with a bit of 'story' wrapped around it. The story part could have been concluded in less than 15 min. There was not enough meat in the story part to make the conclusion worthwhile. It just makes the whole thing boring and comes off a little preachy.
