There’s always going to be the people in the comment section saying “oh easy for you to say. I have to pay for X,Y,Z” No. Most of us could live for less. But most of us aren’t willing to give up having a car and insurance to have a bike. Most of us want our 7 streaming platforms for which pay a sub fee for. Most of us bought the nice house and now have a hefty mortgage. We all trap ourselves thinking we need everything Joe smoe has. We pay for “comforts” that ultimately don’t comfort us from our real issues.

Not speaking of a car or various luxuries but at least, you need a food, shelter, clothes and occasionaly a medical help, right? You just can't live in the woods, not anythere in European continent, or in the USA, at least. There is simply not enough wild animals to hunt anymore. And even if they were, you need a hunting licence, or how it is called in your country. You cannot just chop some wood for building a home or heating it either - you will be arrested for it. You can not settle on some unclaimed land - there is no such thing anymore. You can't build your house on your own property without a shitton of licenses and inspections from the government. And building materials are not free either. Same goes for homegrown food - it could prove itself even more expensive than if you buy it in a supermarket. If you don't have your own house or apartment, then you have to pay to your landlord. Of course, you always can live under a bridge in a cardboard box, but I doubt that life would make you happy without hefty daily dose of alcohole or drugs (which is again wouldn't come for free). And what if you would fell ill? Even if your country have a free or semi-free health care (mine do - with my health condition i would already be either dead or hopelessly in debts if I had to pay my hospital bills on my own), you'll still need to buy your prescribed drugs, and farmaceutical companies are greedy as hell. Just face it: novadays society is built in such a way that people just can't live on their own, without a Big Brother type government. Resouses is too scarce to just live a "simple life" and those who distributing these resourses have a complete power over us.

Sold my flat, bought a tiny house with a big property next to a beautiful lake inland in norway. I can grow my own vegetables, fish in the lake, chop my own firewood. I've got no neighbours, clean air, clean well-water, and when I sit on the veranda I can only hear birdsong. No cars, no traffic noise, no sirens. No industrial sounds. At night I can see stars clearly, there is no light-pollution. My mental health went from depressed, miserable, and horrible to great. I'm at peace. I can touch grass barefeet in the morning, feel the morning dew. I can go for a swim without taking the car, bus or train to get to water. And I can do so nude because there is no people around. In a year I've had close encounters with deer, moose, foxes, badgers, hedgehogs, squirrels, wild game, ravens, eagles and every snake, frog and insect we have. Not on the TV. With my own eyes, up close. It's absolute freedom. And its wonderful. It took me years of work, preparation, savings. But the value is immeasurable.

@@user-nk8ww9ce9k There are cultures who never thought gold to be of that type of value. Shocker, but it's true. Look into it. So your presumption of spending on gold and silver instead of on, say, useful tools or the like whose value is more objective (at least insofar as anything that pertains to what is still human behavior can be), makes no sense. Besides, since nobody uses gold and silver directly as money now you'd have to either establish that economy first, magically hope that someone else will do so for some reason _and_ also _won't_ do something else instead. All you've done otherwise, is just double your entanglement with the existing society since to use those gold and silver you will first have to sell them for fiat cash before you can then buy the items you want. So, again, it makes more sense to buy truly valuable hard assets that you can actually do things with.

I don’t need to find free food, but I love it. Sometimes it might take me an hour to pick dandelion roots and roast them to make a hot coffee style drink. Some might say they’d rather pay for the convenience of going to the shop and buying coffee, but I love it!!!! I asked myself “what type of man do I want to be, by the time I die” and the answer I reached was that I want to be able to live like a stag… Not that I will, but able to😂

How is this any of their business? I was not in employment, that’s all you need to know. After doing that for years I have found out that there is never true satisfaction from just grinding all the time. I have decided that this summer I will be quitting my job and going to go spend a month hiking the Colorado trail. I can’t wait to get out and just exist is nature for an extended period of time and to see new things and meet new people. Unfortunately I got distracted by a man that did everything to keep me in his world, a different version of what I was leaving behind. I broke free and packed everything and told him "you wanted to control everything in my life, now its your burden" and I walked away again. As I sit here frustrated because I don't have a plan so I don't know what to do. I turned on the TV (KZfaq) and this video pops up. I started to think "what do I want to do" ... then I smiled because I want to do what I wanted to do... That's why you need to learn how to Collective Bargain, and also how to organize horizontal cooperation so that you can build a societal base that is independent of them and their government while also not pathologizing help and mutuality (natural parts of humankind).

Thanks to you, I've done away with (gave away) my phone, The ones I care about know how to contact me, to me, giving it away is me being more freed from society's norm, It means im not distracted by the doom scrolling device in my pocket, and I can be finally free, I can be more in the moment and going in the flow with life! So thank you Bjorn. Thank. You.

As someone who is considered useless, there is a price you have to pay. Loneliness. If you are useless, people dont want to use you, and much of our social interactions are based on using each other. But sure, as long as you provide other people with validation you are providing something of value, and are in that sense not useless anymore.

I've been trying to tell people this for the longest, the 9-5 rat race hustle culture isn't the way. People would rather slave away at a job they hate for their entire life to pay for big expensive houses and cars; then buy something cheaper that wouldn't be a burden and would allow them to work less and actually live. People are way too worried about what others will think of them and they think they have to buy expensive items, so people don't think less of them. I really wish people would understand that for example driving a 20-year-old car and having a smaller home with no debt is the biggest win.

Thank you! The problem with this video is that this fellow thinks he can be happy achieving “freedom”. Freedom from responsibility is refreshing for anyone who has been a slave. But a freeman should at some point contemplate on the meaning and purpose of life. Just to live “free” is not an option when we take so much for our very survival. We are obliged to give also. Not only to humanity but to the world around us.

This message is golden. Couldn’t have said it better myself. Maybe I would say this: freedom is happiness. Happiness is to get to do what you want to do. And that freedom doesn’t come from adding more and more things to your life and your identity, but from subtracting them. I just so happened to arrive at the same exact conclusion as you did in this video just before I watched it. I was thinking about happiness and freedom. And I realized that my attachment to trying to find a way to make a living is really making me unhappy. I realized that to cover your basic needs, the world really doesn’t ask much of you. If you’re unattached, you will always find a place to stay and get clean and eat and drink. And you’ll always be able to do so while remaining perfectly at ease and at peace. You don’t need to enter into a slave contract for it. That’s the truth that the world should know.

Hey Bull, I just turned 60 and made the same conclusion. I have been pleasing everybody else with my labor and hard work all my life. Whoever I worked for I always give 110%. I am fishing, hunting, and camping much more now as well as Blacksmithing, farming my own food & antique woodworking restorations. I have already been telling and learning how to say no. When I turned 60 I woke up and realized I have given 3/4 of my life and time to help everybody else. I thought busting my ass until I dropped was the manly thing to do. I was a people pleaser. My boys are in there 30s & doing the same thing now. I am trying to get them to live more for their self's and spend time with their families. FREEDOM.
