This would almost be funny if it wasn't the sort of abuse we have been receiving continuously for over 2 years. The man who starts the complaining and I go and talk to has already taken over all of the terrace off the closed restaurant next to me but insists that I am still blocking his restaurant. I remind Rey that I am only using the land that I legally own not rent like everyone else in the square and it hasn't changed since I bought the bar. Like a child he starts to put tables in front of us so I just ignore him and get on with setting up the terrace. These were still covid regulation times and you can see the spacing and reduction of capacity I have made, Rey is just increasing.
Souliman who rents Divinity and thinks he became so sort of law lord after paying off some local police and Sindia his partner in business and whatever else seems to have family senior in the local police as well. That enabled them for the year extra whilst we were closed due to having a music license to turn the square into his own personal nightclub. As you can imagine in a world of no loud music, having to sit to drink, masks on when standing and having to walk away to have a cigarette and absolutely under no circumstances where you allowed to dance! A place that offered everything and more than was available before the regulations was packed overnight even though the place is a run down mess and illegal in just about every way possible.
Once the clubs and bars like Diamonds could reopen his business halved and he just got louder and more aggressive with touts and continued to try and take control of businesses. You can see him showing our new neighbour how to treat a pair for faggots like us, take control from the very beginning and push us down. There are lots of examples of his hatred for us and getting all of his staff to make our lives a misery and especially Abdul but it appears he winds himself up more than anything but there is no doubt there is violent hatred behind it all.
The absolute saddest thing is that the most violent incident that smashed my husbands gopro and broke one of his fingers trying to return our divider to it's rightful place. They said we were not using the space so they had every right to use it.... private property etc making no difference and after being one of the founders of Maspalomas Pride we know how to run the bar and we make safe space for people to get to the bar as well as form the famous line for the loo at the bar as we are one of the only places that keeps one open until at least midnight. This was about an hour before it gets busy and everything goes crazy and we are serving 3 to 4 drinks per minutes for 3-4 hours so we want everything set up ready.
If you watch, you can see our staff desperate to help but who we have told to stay away from any confrontation as it isn't their job but neither did any of the public come and asked if we were ok as we became surrounded by staff from the other side of the square who I am sure were only there to help calm things down.
The rest of the video is a fun look at just how hateful Adbul is. His restaurant is called Olive Tapas, is completely your choice if you want to go there but I can tell you he is violently homophobic even if he smiles and chats you up to get you into his deep fat fried restaurant.
We have since been flooded out from and mystery leak from above that took 67 days to stop and has completely destroyed the bar, we will rebuild and be back into the fight, these sort of people cannot be allowed to win and drag us back into the dark ages with them.
