Jimmy was all over the board on the overlay today. Game one and two were both 0 to 0 best of 5, two got fixed partway through once winter noticed, game three showed the score as 0 to 0 with no best of, game 4 was 2 to 1 in a best of 3, with game 5 being back to correct.

I love these games from not quite top tier players. It's way more entertaining to see matches that aren't decided by one minor mistake by one player, and where they aren't slavishly following the meta to a T.

Man, Bly was really struggling that 2nd game. Lost 3-4 Drones to an Adept because he didn't tell the Queens right next to it to kill it and criminally under-utilized his Biles vs the Cannons and Batteries. Definitely could have won that before it got to Carriers. Wow, you almost never see Mutas just win a game straight-up up like that, at least among the pros! Heh, looks like Nice had his own game-2 moment to close it out. Balance is restored ;p Love the new maps!

never played a game in my life, but i watched since the days of HD starcraft/husky starcraft. i love to see the evolution of tactics, like when protos put a single unit in the gap of the wall. then a single unit and then a battery behind.

when you see a massive amount of phoenix slaughtering drone lines over and over you gotta ask yourself; "will it hurt to add a couple more spores?"

Then answer to yourself "yeah it will hurt because beyond a certain point it doesn't hinder Phoenix which are quite tanky & get rotated which is why pro Zergs only kill a certain number of their own drones but its hard explaining that to metal league players."

There something to be said about about games with 1 level lower than top world/gsl - they often are funnier to watch, u never know what happens and big advantage doesn't end game cause big mistakes alsso happen quite often

It drives me nuts that Zerg don't see a cloud of phoenix they can't deal with, and just 'take the hits' like Winter says. The drones are going to die anyway- instead of losing 5 here, 5 there, 3 more, then bunch of overlords and queens too for good measure, etc, just shotgun out 4 spores as soon as you identify the problem. Now you're permanently phoenix-proof and it only cost 4 drones (plus 4 more in mineral cost), which pays for itself essentially every time.

it's not quite that straight forward, yes it is annoying to see pro players not use the tools available to them, but when you preemptively kill your drones to make static defense, you still lose the mining time and resources they would have gotten until their unfortunate end. Also, often at that level, the other guy notices you spent a bunch of resources to stop one strategy and says, "good enough, now he is out a bunch of drones and i can't just fly in, let me do something else that he doesn't have money for now." We end up with a balancing act, where each player is trying to do the most with the least, trying to get the other guy to commit to one defense, then do something else with the resources they gained by not doing that.

also, with the debatable exception of serral, they are human, they play at a level that not many can match, but they don't always do the best action for the situation.

I am also angry watching this :) but the problem is phoenixes are units, and very mobile - so when zerg spends 1000 minerals on static defence behind mineral lines, protoss can attack from the front with 1000 minerals bigger army (using those phoenixes). On pro level I would imagine this can be gg at the early to beginning of mid game

@@jankowalski1501you don't spend 1000, you spend 200, which means if it saves you two overlords (or 4 drones) (or kills 1 phoenix and/or prevents future runbys) you're way ahead A lot of players- and pro players especially- are determined to do 'what is the absolute best', which requires perfect APM/reactions. Simply don't lose any drones to phoenix and micro properly! But as was said, they are human, and a 4 APM 'make 4 spores' is a very-low-risk play compared to 'micro perfectly under pressure'

@@LordEvilreaver "Way ahead" or even partly ahead is complete nonsense. Even if you do your math correctly & take into account the total cost of drones, spores & lost mining appropriated for game time (early drone losses are much more damaging than later ones), you are forgetting something much more important... adding a few extra spores does not stop the Phoenix from killing drones. They are very tanky and good Protoss rotate the injured ones.

At 40 minutes- why wouldn't Bly send up an overlord to carry the zerglings into the mined out main? Then they could run into the natural and sweep the drones. It'd be a perfect distraction while they assault the third. Do enough damage to the mining and they wont have the interceptor production.

Am I crazy but wouldn't it be awesome if we had maps specifically made for specific races? F.e a map that only would be available only for ZvT, the positions would be fixed, terrain would not be symmetrical and it would have advantages and disadvantages for both races

Nice was a Husky that's how he plays so good. I'd like to see an actual StarCraft Universe with Unreal Engine, first person playing as Ghost or Dark Templar with Path of Exile passives extracting samples or Bio Warfare amongst various systems were strains change with environments Good/Bad so players have to cleanse the infestation.

Which race has the best defensive resources and mechanics ? Zerg with spines, spores, creep, queens, heal, slow HP regen, walls? burrow? nydus? and productions mechanics? Protoss with cannon, battery, overcharge, walls, sim-city, shield regen, recall, chrono boost? and production mechanics? Terran with walls, doors, lifts, bunkers, sim-city, planetary fortresses, turrets, sensor towers, repair, scan, scv loading? and productions mechanics? Any things else that doesn't respond to select all army?? ;)
