I really liked this video! I am just gaining more confidence painting outside too, so it was nice to hear you talk with your friend about that - and also giving him some pointers was good content too, I thought. Thanks

Poseidon smiles on Matt, plein air first-timer Uses colors that are hard for this old rhymer Michael may have forgot the Liquin, oh well He still makes magic with solvent free gel Offers Matt advice; accepted with grace Dry sand meets wet, first horizon erased His Patreon is the best; I can espouse Now I’ll look up Jack O’Neill’s house 🌊😁 I love the energy and motion Matt captured in his painting. Beautiful! At the risk of sounding like a broken record the wet sand in your paintings is incredible. The colors in the cliffs, sky and water are beautiful. I am staring at that dramatic painting behind you. Wow! Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💛

I really enjoy your painting process as it covers a wide range of issues and how to resolve them. It’s so helpful to see how you mix your colours too and learning colour temperature as well as perspective. I have one problem which bothers me in that I don’t find my brushes very flexible especially the small ones. I clean them well and use brush conditioner but maybe they are meant to be like that. It’s switching from water colour to oils that may be bothering me. Would love your view on that.
@chamberlainpaintings
@chamberlainpaintings 2 жыл бұрын
I used to have that problem back when I used smaller brushes. My smaller brights became stiff and unusable even though I cleaned them thoroughly. I now use larger natural and synthetic flats and it's not a problem. Sizes 4 thru 10.

What do we think? Really like the lightness of the distant cliffs and the warmness of the ones nearer. I don’t really think of little nuances like that until you point it out. Also your violet mix in the wet sand brings it all home. Sharing what you know after years of hard work is very much appreciated. Please know that. 🌴 Plant City, Fl.

michael at 13:12 , Behold the unclothed Madonna, as a riddle, or a story, of some, gifted to one. See creativity path it’s way up a shore, , stops, , and sees it’s own as breathed, from a countenance, a single eye, wraithed wrist across it’s forehead. It’s kin mingles a brightness separated that wears a headdress. .Atop the right cliff, sitting upon the face in the rock, see an aged one, cloak of green, arms , shoulders covered, length of mostly dark hair down the back, woven headdress perhaps of straw, , sitting are casks , behind, not of wine. . Leaning on a right arm it’s left restrains a creature fraught with escape. . Below a tattered left cloak sleeve, a small one stands, another sits, both nearly touched by purple. . Just beyond the right cloaked shoulder, the purple resides. . At the base of green , midst of the cliff, a visibly bold creature, on fours, it’s greying mane flows across and behind. . A second green cloak , weary, lays behind the mane and it’s length reaches the orange barrier. .The Cliff lower portion is pierced of three types, each decend to edge darkened reflection that lays deep upon surface sea. . The orange barrier maintains itself, two standards erect , bulwarks are on the further rock, the right standard gathers it’s sight, the left, , the unknowns. . Center edge, greyrock, one clothed in white, and it’s red headdress. . A machination is in the sea, the orange barrier touches it and the bulwark upon the first rock. .White water of the sea holds it’s own barrier, before and further beyond. . Lightning falls as misted rain from the sky.. At 15:01, see the completed , cloaked madonna, a beautiful, complete painting creativity adorned ❤️ ☺️😁

Great instruction. How did you like the Gamblin Solvent Free Gel as opposed to working with Liquin? I use the Solvent Free Gel and Solvent Free Liquid but I've never tried Liquin. Thanks for all the content.
@chamberlainpaintings

I prefer Liquin to the gel. The gel felt stickier and it didn’t work as well for the sweeping strokes. I use it indoors tho. Liquin is too toxic for indoors

As always, a great work....I would imagine you're thinning your paint with Liquin and not turps...am I correct in this assumption? I'm currently working through some problems with mediums and need a bit more advice...
@chamberlainpaintings

Thanks Charles! I usually thin with Liquin and sometimes add a bit of odorless mineral spirits. I don't ever thin with odorless mineral spirits alone except for when toning the panel. I only use Liquin outdoors. When indoors I use Gamblin solvent free gel or a mixture of one part stand oil, one part OMS, two parts linseed oil. Hope that helps!

Solvent Free Medium …did you notice? I notice when using the solvent free gel that everything dries with a matte sheen…Liquin seems to add gloss…solvent free really dulls things down…varnish recovers it but I was taken aback by the e difference. Just wondering if you had the same experience.
