i honestly think he still plays jean because like you said its character loyalty. He just really likes her, he makes her work better than a lot of people, even his normal phoenix aint no joke, but if he wasn't loyal to the character he could have been replaced her / just stuck to his dorm team.

Though I can see what you are saying I simply don't agree. Champ's team has an incredibly solid fullscreen neutral game that in half the games tore apart Cloud's ZMC. The weakness in ZMC is that compared to Champs team it lacks mobility. Even with the anti-air assist it is a challenge for Cloud to land it because A) Magneto can call assists while flying, thus Doom can shoot Dante at any given point B) Magneto while flying can plink dash which will outrun all of Zero's maneuvers. Zero's best get in tool against this team is to jump, H lightning and buster, then call Dante, but a player as quick as Champ will see this and have time to land and dash behind Zero immediately putting Zero back into the neutral game that he loses. Both teams are pretty optimal so honestly, it isn't superior in either teams favor. The one thing to take into consideration is most games when Zero goes down, Champ will rush down Vergil and take him out creating the 3v1 situation which Dante isn't very good in. If Champ gets the first kill it often (not always) means game for Cloud. On the flipside, Doom/Phoenix are so synergous with long combos and meter gain that even when Cloud gets Magneto out of the game, Champ still has a strong chance to win. Just my 2 cents.

So Jean isn't really even considered a good character? Because everytime Champ's in Phoenix mode or whatever after his first life bar, everyone he touches melts away. It's a serious question I've been wondering.

That's because he's so agile with her. She's the most mobile character in the entire game, and she's definitely not bad - she's a very good character in theory. The two things that keep her from being a metagame standard (overused) are her health and her inferiority to other anchors like Strider (who has one of the best assists) and Vergil (self-explanatory). It's harder than it looks, to get Jean to Dark Phoenix in tournaments! I mean look at those snapbacks with insane mixups! And other anti-Phoenix tech!

DeluxStart a lot of players nowdays just see dark phoenix as a Vergil with a bunch of requirements attached ..she isn't bad..her function in the game was just taken over by Vergil.

ft15 (win by 2) is not the same as ft15... (15-13 would be winning the set, 15-14 is not 2 ahead, so they keep playing until there is a 2 wins difference) If they agreed to it before the match, there is nothing wrong with the result

Your comment shows a lot of ignorance. You don't always have to do a different combo just for the sake if doing it. Haven't you heard of "tournament combos"? It's best to keep everything simple, the player doesn't care if you get bored of watching. By saying that you're taking credit away from people who play mag/doom, you might as well say that to everyone who plays top tiers. Also, mag/doom has a high skill cap and their metagame is hard to master. (neutral game)

Because he isn't helpless after Zero is gone. Most Zero players are only good with Zero, and once he's gone, they kinda struggle, Cloud, however is a beast with Dante, best Dante since Yipes.
