@@Guitarz4Lyf Paper Moon also has an amazing guest guitar solo from Jakub Zytecki, another crazy solo guitarist that is Plini's friend and is somone Plini looks up to. Plini says that Jakub always seems to be years ahead of him in terms ideas. Would recommend checking out Jakub Zytecki - Sunflower.

This one is off of his first EP, he programmed everything except the guitars, all by himself in his bedroom through an axe fx. This EP is the first EP of a trilogy of EPs, 'other things' 'sweet nothings' and 'the end of everything'. The first 2 EPs are mostly all plini, and Marco Minneman plays drums on the third EP. he has mixed all the EPs himself, and the piano parts were played by luke martin, who mastered all three EPs. All of his later works mostly have actual drummers and bassist on them, but the Eps are almost entirely programmed and orchestrated by him except for the pianos.

Yo! Thank you for the insight here. That's pretty crazy. Is this one of the EP's that helped get him "bigger"?
@swayamtailor
@swayamtailor 3 жыл бұрын
@@Guitarz4Lyf He was steadily growing since this EP trilogy, and selenium forest is definitely one of plini's most popular songs. But I guess he really started blowing up when electric sunrise came out, especially since Steve Vai called that album 'The future of guitar' and then people who wanted to listen tk more of plini, discovered the older EPs and singles. If you haven't checked out the new album, you oughtta react to 'Pan' from impulse voices by him. Your audience would love it!

I believe Plini was solo until the Handmade cities album and just got his musician friends to play on releases/live. He formed a band with Simon Grove on Bass( he also does all the mixing, also plays bass and mixes for other solo artists as well) and Troy Wright on drums(he actually tried out for Animals As Leaders before going to Plini). With this album he started to get the other musicians to write their music. Sometime around Sunhead Troy wright left to teach, and he brought in a new drummer, forgot his name but hes a beast. Fun fact is that his band members "complain" (joking of course) about playing live because Plini pushes them to freestyle as much as they can. I can definitely vouch for this as I've seen them 4 times now and each time they play more and more off script. I think its pretty well established that Tosin from Animals as Leaders is the most talented modern guitarist in the world, but I think when it comes to everything that goes into releasing music, Plini is the best.

Mitchell, I have quickly learned and enjoyed the master craftsmanship that goes into Plini's music. It is quite interesting learning more of the dynamics of him as he's kind of a solo artist but partners with others

Tosin being the most talented isn't "well established". Lol. Yes he is fantastic, yes his music is fantastic. But there are still people who can contest that title. Like polyphia, jason fking richardson, stephen taranto, etc

This is the 2nd or 3rd song of the first(or second, i forgot the sequence) ep in Plini's "Things" ep trilogy. The melody at 7:42 (of your reaction vid) resurfaces in one song for each ep. They appear in "opening" from the sweet nothings ep and "paper moon" in the the end of everything ep. Highly recommend you check them out. Also highly recommend listening to ALL the eps

I saw Plini with Periphery earlier this year. He is a solo artist but they just call the band that he performs with Plini. Such an amazing live show. I recommend Paper moon and Cascade as a couple more songs to check out. Periphery is another amazing band to check out! They have three guitarists and every member of the band is at the top of their game. I would check out Satellites, Reptile, or Remain indoors.

@@Guitarz4Lyf honestly man, the term Selenium is probably referencing the greek meaning of the word which is related to the moon (hence the album art), as the name Selene was the greek titan goddess of the moon. So maybe envision a dense forest under the moonlight.

@@Guitarz4Lyf His name is actually pronounced Plih-knee, the first I sounds like the I in bin. Simon Grove is his goto-guy for production and mixing, he also plays bass on a lot of Plini's releases and live shows. Plini writes/arranges everything himself, from the (bass) guitar parts to the synths and programming drums. His first two releases, including this track, featured programmed drums instead of the real thing and only a few guest solo's and guitar parts. His first album, Handmade Cities, featured recorded tracks for drums and bass by Troy Wright and Simon respectively. The list of musicians he has worked with so far is impressive, I can recommend taking a look at his Bandcamp page ( plini.bandcamp.com/ ) or his website ( plini.co/about ). Seeing as you have a small selection of electric guitars, he also has a Neural DSP plugin called Archetype: Plini ( neuraldsp.com/products/archetype-plini/ ). In case you're wondering, it's a piece of software to emulate his sound through amp modelling, a few effects and cabinet simulation. Just hook up the guitar through an audio interface and shred along in your DAW of choice or standalone ;) it has a free trial btw. A few other artists I would like to mention, if you'd like some more of this type of (instrumentals only) music: Animals as Leaders, Arch Echo, Intervals, Periphery, Sithu Aye and Jakub Zytecki. You already heard of Chon and Polyphia ;)

@@Guitarz4Lyf I’m also pretty sure the bassist he works with (Simon grove) does all of the mixing and mastering. Plini writes all of the parts, I’m sure he gives artists creative liberties of course but he pretty much structures everything.
