X-Men's Beast becomes a Supervillain?!

One reason to love Beast. The man is smart enough to conquer the world if he so chooses, and strong enough that no ordinary human could hope to match him, or even several heavily armed humans. But with his keen intellect comes a lot of wisdom and empathy. Beast's kind soul is what makes his character perfect. And renditions like Dark Beast which show just how terrifying Beast could be if he wasn't on our side.

Beast is not a kind soul at all. He’s always had a superiority complex despite there being people way more capable than him. Beast is no longer a hero but corrupt mad scientist

No. Wrong. Beast is only “kind” because of the guidance he got from charles. If there was no trainer the beast would run wild. But kind is not a way to describe hank

The way I see it the Beast that was once kind and gentle has seen horrors beyond his imagination that he must become colder and more calculating to make sure that paradise exists still so much so that he became a villain in a way to ensure the dream lives on.

Yeah, because what Scott does is very real. Beast mind controlling isn’t realistic. Cheating on your wives, ending your mentor, failing to lead, are all very real.

@@dallasgrey4247 technically it was a psychic affair, whereas Jean constantly hang around a guy who wants to smash, and didn’t Jean grey kill like countless people with the phoenix force. When has he failed, when it comes down to it he leads them to battle the only reason he has such a hard time is because all of them always have drama between them

@@kb6900true plus Scott was being mostly tricked into the affairs thinking he is with Jean. Jean knowingly had affairs with Logan, plus Xavier wasn't that great of a guy by the time he died.

Really? I actually thought it was pretty in line with his character. I've always seen him as a highly arrogant character who could let his need to be the best take over. After all, when Oatu the Watcher personally tells you he's disgusted by you, you know you've got a problem. He's also been quick to jump to aggressive solutions before. When there was a conflict with the Inhumans Hank immediately jumped on the idea that mutants should just give up the planet and let the Inhumans have it. It makes sense to me that his growing internalized anti-muntant feelings combined with his own pride would lead to this. After all, he is the most like Charles out of all of them. Combined with his own failings the ideology becomes "Win the human way, no matter what."

If they want to do something like this, I'm fine if seeds of it are planted WAAAAY in advance or their is proper justification. I like the idea of Beast going full villain but I'm just not sold on the execution.

The whole effing Marvel Universe needs a HARD reset. The degenerates writing these comics have no gasp of what heroism, altruism, or just basic human decency even looks like. It's for the best that Stan Lee didn't live to see what a grotesque mockery the world he created has been reduced to.

simply showing 'good guy vs bad guy, good guy wins' doesn't do much to address the nuances and moral greyness of life, and after a time stops being such an interesting concept when overused and not innovated on

Agreed. What you fail to grasp is that they're still doing Good Guy/Bad Guy...they just made nearly everyone bad guys without one drop of contextual explanation for why and how such wild personality changes took place. We all go through our edgeyboy Garth Ennis/Mark Millar phase, I suppose. I went through it. So I get it. But eventually, time and maturity will give you the perspective to appreciate that being "Dark and edgey" ...purely for the sake of it... does not a good story make. Hell, it doesn't even make for a morally grey story. It just makes for a morally bankrupt story. It's boring. It's basic. It's Roundhead Johnson trying to "Subvert expectations" in the least imaginative way possible. It's how dullwit's effect a mask of maturity and intellectual complexity they don't actually have. Do better. ;)

Nonono. If it resets 1, new trash writers will rewrite the characters, 2 rogue and gambit never got a child and I will kill marvel, 3. Fire new writers that don't know how to write and let real fans write the stories.

Frankly, I’m not surprised. The last fifteen years, Hank’s self loathing has skyrocketed. If Jean is Xavier’s morality star pupil, Hank is Xavier’s original dream made manifest. Between Dark Vortex, destroying a bunch of timelines because he wanted his 60’s nostalgia fix (The Watcher personally visited him to tell him how disgusted he was with him) and making the Krakoan CIA, Hank is becoming a character I enjoy disliking. Kind of like Jean in a way. He’s one of the smartest minds in Marvel but he’s definitely got the worst instincts. Like, even when he’s working with the X men, he’s always siding against them. Kind of fitting that Sage and Emma try and stop him. I mean, Sage was the original student and she’s got one of the fastest minds. More of Sage, please. Hope we actually get her original name and some needed interactions. And Emma… I can’t lie, Emma Frost is my favourite X-men member. And Beast tried to use her event? Oh he was doomed.

Technically it starts with the introduction of Dark Beast about 30 years ago and has been building since then. However, it has incorporated a few past facts about the character to fuel the story. It builds during Avengers vs. X-men, All New X-Men, and Inhumans vs. X-men(don't read that one) before finally coning to a head in the new X-Force book. There's more elements to it, but there's some key Hank fall moments in each oth those before the new X-Force book when he leans into it
